I have written the odd program to do things with ICOM radios over the years but have not done anything with Yaesy CAT codes. I do have an FT-817nd which documents CAAT codes in the user manual. I also have the FT-817nd, and downloaded manuals for the FT-857 and 897. For all three, there is a procedure for holding down buttons to enter the Clone mode. Clone mode is how CHIRP downloads and uploads data to the radios. Choosing FT-897 in CHIRP might download something from the FT-991, but it may not be the right format. But to try it, you would need to find how to put the FT-991 into Clone mode. I tried various combinations of buttons on the FT-991 when switching on power, but have not found the Clone combination yet. Holding in both the A=B and A/B buttons produces "Version Information" for Main, DSP, TFT and C4FM. The screen lasts for 5 or 10 seconds and goes back to the regular screen. Holding in RCL/STO lights all the lights, but the radio does not respond as far as I can tell. Holding in CS gives a white screen. Then pressing Menu-Setup toggles the screen between white and black. I think I will take a list of questions for the Yaesu booth at the Orlando Hamfest in a couple of weeks! 73, Fred K4DII The FT-991 CAT codes are similar to those of the FT-950. Close but no cigar. For instance, the FT-991 FA command resuires an extra digit needed to express frequencies above 99 MHz. I suspect clone commands are not in the 991's future. It should be possible tostore and retrieve the memory locations individually. Shouldn't take too long as there are only a hundred or so. |
