Default ADI AR-147 PROBLEM

I have an ADI AR-147 rig that seems to have a heat related problem.
When I transmit on medium or high power for a few minutes the case
gets very warm and my display acts up. It will show just about
everything ...all gibberish. Sometimes a tap on top of the rig will
get it working and letting the case cool will always get it back.
Might open it up and re-solder or clean the display contacts. Anyone
else have this problem? Thanks ... Scott VE1AFN.

Bought a 147 with a similar problem. No mention was made by the seller that
it was heat-related, just that it would blank out, and sometimes a tap (or a
sharp rap) would fix it. Opened it up and re-seated all the boards and
ribbon cables (as I recall, the display connects to the main board with a
ribbon cable). It's been running 24/7 as my APRS rig for better than six
months, and the display is still working fine.
