It would be nice if when you post to a newsgroup, you keep the post
relevant to the group. Your request for the info is valid, but your
spewing (As much as I agree with it) is not appropriate to a Ham group.

That said...

If your friend isn't an amateur, He won't be able to use the radio. He may
be able to find a Ham who will do it for him. We're generally a helpful
sort, so it shouldn't be difficult. If not, their is still the option of
sattilite phones. And if this is a major conference, I'm sure their will be
phones there. He could also talk to some of the media folk.

I'm not really familiar with packet radio. As I recall, though, the
bandwidth isn't likely to be wide enough for you needs. I'm even more sure
that in such an out of the way country, they regs are even tighter thatn
here in the States.
