The crystals have 3 leads coming from them.

Does anyone know what frequency these crystals receive on? When I
turn the radio on, all I get is faint static, no voice.

This is a wild guess, since I'm not familiar with that particular
receiver. I will say that GE was fond of using a 10.700MHz IF, and that
a LOT of FM receiver manufacturers used the combination of third-
overtone crystals and a 10.7 IF.

With that in mind: 47.810MHz times 3 = 143.4300MHz.

Add the 10.700MHz IF to that, and you come up with 154.1300MHz,
one of the more common VHF fire department frequencies.

The radio model is NSO 6MDV 66
FCC Receiver Data ER-52-A

ER-52 sounds like something out of the MASTR-II series, but I
couldn't be sure. I would suggest asking these same questions on the GE
forum of http://radio.the161.net -- I'm sure someone there will know
more than I can tell you.

Are crystals available anywhere for this radio anymore if I wanted to
change frequencies? Is the radio worth getting repaired?

I would be utterly stunned if International Crystal, Bomar, or
some similar manufacturer could not help you in that regard.

Yeah, they could, but last I checked, Bomar was wanting $50 minimum order.
The others were wanting $20, I believe.

Thanks for the information. I have contacted the manufacturers
concerning availablity.
Can anyone recommend a tech in the St Louis MO area that would be able
to tweak this radio.
