A local ham needs money. He is offering me a Kenwood
TS-2000, very clean, for $950. He even let me use it for a week
and try it out. I been looking for a HF rig, and I hate to let a good
bargain go by. Do you think it is worth the price?

Sounds about right, I'll sell you my TS-2000 for $500.00 buts needs
repair about $300.00 worth. Might ask if he ever had the driver stage
worked on, I did, and now it's bad again, bad by-pass caps on the
transistors on certain runs around late 2000! Kenwood knew about the
problem but never published the tech bulletin about them. Out of
warranty and warranty on repair so I am SOL!

I feel your pain. My TS-2000 needed some repair because the xmitter
failed on 160-6, and there is no F*ing way in h#ll that a trpical ham
can diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair that. $600 later, my radio was
fixed.

Don't get me wrong, I love the radio. But if it ever fails again, it's
going to the curb.
