Hi Jack,
I don't have any CB mics. But I do have a Pryme model PMC-200 Desk Mic with built in 4 band EQ. It also has UP/Down, Scan etc. buttons. I like it. I believe it is the same as the Adonis but at about half the price. It is designed to work with Kenwood, Yaesu or Icom rigs just by buying a different mic cable that plugs into the back of the mic (no wiring needed). But if you are using a mobile radio plan on wiring the mic. Ace - WH2T "Jack VK2CJC" wrote in message ... Hi all A while back I used a Kenwood MC85 desk mic. It was the electret type which was able to cope with a wide variation in input level. I.e. I could sit up close or lean back in my chair and it sorted its own levels out. I found this very useful for late night ragchews, especially if I was typing or writing etc at the same time. But, it packed up. I ended up with an MC60 as a replacement, which is a superb mic, but requires a constant distance between mouth and mic to maintain constant audio level to the radio. I wish to buy another MC85-style "lean back in my chair" type. I don't want another MC85 due to the poor circuit design which led to my getting rid of it. Years ago I spoke to some blokes who were using CB desk mics. I forget the make. Adonis maybe, but I might be wrong. They were singing the praises of these things and telling me they were far better than an MC85. They certainly sounded good and proved to be more reliable. I want to try a CB mic with the trusty TS450. But from my experience I know that CB gear varies from reasonable quality to unbelievably bad. So thought I'd try and get some input from others experiences. Anyone using one? What kind? How does it perform? How far can you remove yourself from the mic and it still controls its gain? Thanks. -- Jack VK2CJC |
