Yes, Jack. Absolutely EVERY thread started in uk.radio.amateur, after only
two or three 'overs', degenerates into trashing CBers and all those whose
are deemed never to taken the 'proper' Radio Amateurs' Examination (not
just those with Foundation Licences). It's all really a bit sad.


Yes Ian, it is sad. Makes you wonder if a moderated group might be
worthwhile. I am not normally a fan of moderation as I support free speech.
But a group with an "ist" filter might be good. (sexist, racist, CBist,
license classist). Some guys tried on yahoo, but ended up with a collection
of separate and poorly supported cliches.

I co-run the UK CB Radio yahoo group and take the view that all messages are
allowed, no matter how confrontational, so long as they are not abusive or
way off-topic. And it works well. In 3 years we've only have a few off topic
spammers to warn off.
