Its still interesting from the old/vintage radio standpoint. I never saw
a tube 27MHz radio in Oz.

Cant figure out what 17 tube performance from only 11 tubes means....

Cheers Bob W5/VK2YQA

Some of the tubes were two or more sections: Dual triodes, dual
diodes & amp so you actually have 17 "Tubes" in 11 envelopes.

Don't forget Compactrons, that would have three "tubes" in an envelope.
That would really lower the package to tube ratio.

I don't think that radio used any Compactrons, but yes, you could get
three triodes in one Compactron envelope.

Hi Bob, many tubes can have "dual" purposes in one glass envelope.
Some of the manufactures utilized these fuctions. The wording is
directly from the catalog.

Actually, the sentence makes no sense.

You have reference crystals in recent synthesized rigs, but if you changed
it you'd end up with an odd channel spacing. Depending on if the rig uses
it for injection into a pre-mixer before the programmable divider chain,
it may alter the output frequency of the synthesizer too, but that's
just the design making double use of a crystal oscillator. At that
point it's not a "reference crystal".

But, given the age of the rig in question, if it is synthesized
it's going to be a bunch of crystals, mixed together to get different
combinations. There likely won't be one crystal to change to put
it on a new band, you'll need to change a bunch of crystals. And
in those rigs, none of the crystals would be refered to as a "reference
crystal".
