As if you cared, I happen to be fairly technical. I have a BSEE and have
been in the electromagnetic wave business for quite some time. My argument is with the age old view that amateur radio is just for "gentlemen." This stance implies two biases. The first is that all participants must be male. I will leave this by itself. The second is that all participants must have keen technical prowess and a VAST memory store of useless facts. Today's technology opens the hobby up to people from all walks of life and technical ability. This is a win-win situation if ever I saw one. More aptly put, amateur radio is a technically-based hobby and public service that is open to anyone who has been qualified. Wayne- (KC8UIO) "Walt Davidson" wrote in message ... You wouldn't understand, Wayne, as you are neither technical nor a gentleman. Kindly go back to CB where you came from. 73 de G3NYY -- Walt Davidson Email: g3nyy @despammed.com |

This NG is an international public forum
wherein one expects to see technical excellence. It should be a place for enlightenment and reasoned technical discussion. It certainly used to be like that. For some reason, best known only to yourself, you have chosen to turn it into an outpost of the infants' school playground using behaviour and emotional stances left behind years ago by mature contributors. Such an exhibition by you does nothing for your reputation, nor for the well-being of this NG. Shame on you. You should know better. Stupid Boy. Brian Reay wrote: "Reg Edwards" wrote in message ... The Yank Bachelor's degree is roughly equivalent to what the
Brit "A" Levels were 30 years ago. You need to get a Yank Master's to get anywhere near the Brit Bachelor - except, of course if we're talking about Open University because in the early days you could do 6 unrelated elementary subjects - one per year- and still get a degree. Because of these early OU degrees, one has to consider that _ALL_ OU degrees are the equivalent of 6 'O' levels, and all of them in Cookery. Reg Edwards wrote: What's a BSEE ? Gareth, isn't your real "problem" with these qualifications that you don't actually have a degree yourself? Did an audit of qualifications by one of your employers not find some errors in a certain person's qualification records? Did that same person not then try to do an Open University degree and get disqualified when caught cheating in his examinations? Neil |
