My thought is to not try and turn fm into rec.radio.amateur.policy and flame
newcomers. I had someone once tell me his "preferred personal" (gad, I did
cringe, but didn't let on). I simply replied that my name was Jim.

Only one time someone got to me. I think it was one of the "radio police"
that was ragging on and on about the necessity of cw (what he was doing on
440 fm beats the heck out of me!). Fortunately, the repeater owner was on
and usually hangs out on 40 cw at 30 words per minute plus. Also
fortunately, a sidetone was available with the equipment to key it. A quick
ask for permission to switch to modulated cw .... and .... 30 plus words per
minute broke out.

Shut the guy up )
