Default Worldradio Magazine Predicts Digital Only Ham Radio

The May issue of Worldradio Magazine came today and has a big article
talking about how ham radio is going 100% digital very soon. The writer
says it will be less than 10 years before all SSB, CW and whatever is
gone and hams are forced to have digital radios. Its titled
Digitalization and starts on page 40.

well at least a policy related topic. thank you

now that sais I have heard this before indeed digatl was suposed have
all am shortwave by now and all comercail FM but we have aviation still
using AM voice

I would almost enjoy seeing some body tring to impose a wrold wide
standard on the HF

the WRC process took what 30 ? 40 years to finaly work through the code
no code effortsand indeed ifI rember wrc are every 3 years and we ought
be having one realy soon mensing theext it could brought up is
2009-2010not likelyto pass on the first go round psushing discusion to
2013 or so and the with agreement the FCC might begin to act on by 2016
(juding by the length time varios bits of WRC-06 aree going) Fcc R&o
not slikely soner than 2017 mmeaning even if the tend reported is right
the time is well off to put it mildly

What a load of horseshi+. Hams won't sit by and let all their radio
gear become obsolete. Analog HF is here to stay for the next 50 years.
Remember in ham radio things always always change s-l-o-w-l-y, much
like maple syrup running at 40°F. Worldradio is encouraged to print
and speculate on conjecture however this article is actually laughable.
They may be some digital on VHF/UHF but HF? Not in my lifetime.
Remember HF Packet Radio? The 300 baud technology that eventually fell
FLAT ON IT'S FACE? AMTOR and old style 60WPM BAUDOT ran circles around
packet radio. Heck I saw an AEA PK-232 at a hamfest recently going for
$15 and it still remained un-sold at the end of the day. So much 4
digital ham radio. Pooofblttttt!
