Default FT736r front end transistor BF982

Hi Guys
The 144 MHz receive rf amp transistor had a mod which replaced the original
with a bf982.This transistor has been discontinued and i was wondering if
there was a more modern equivalent with a lower noise level. The BF982 is an
N channel dual gate 20v 40ma to 200 MHz.Any helpful suggestions would be
appreciated.
Cheers

I took a quick look for crosses. The combination of 20V 40mA 1.2 dB
noise is quite difficult to match.
There are lower noise UHF devices but they tend to have 20V or 40ma
max ratings.
Perhaps you should just do the search for a BF982 supplier. They can be
had, though you might pay couple or three bucks for one.

If 988/998 is an option and package is not important
then Farnell has it..

Hey OM:

Give me a break, there is know way the front end is going to use 40 ma
of current. What the heck do you think it's driving the freaking audio
output?

Firstly they aren't going to be using the front end in anything but
class A. That makes the only parameters you have to looky at. are
Vds, gain, Ft, and noise figure. Forget about Pd and Ids. Just looky
at the drain resistor, says it all.

I have a couple of BF981 if they are a suitable substitute, new old
stock, for sale on eBay at the UL below.
