Default 10 Meter SSB freqs

Hi gang,
Ok, with the declining nature of the current solar cycle, I figure I
just about have time to build a dream project before the next peak
hits.

My plan is for the following:
Handheld xcvr (not cell phone tiny, more like the size of a larger
brick).
Long loaded telescoping whip antenna
SSB
2-4 W output.

I plan to use either a synthesizer I have been playing with, or some
incantation of the "Huff & Puff" stabilizer. However, I need to pick a
range of frequencies for it as that will have a dramatic impact on the
synth/H & P circuitry.
Since I have never spent much time on 10, I wondering what the common
wisdom is for where the SSB activity is on this band. I would like to
keep the tuning range down to 100KHz if possible, but especially with
the H & P idea, I could go to say, 500KHz.

Any thoughts?
