No just leave the mic plugged into the mic jack on the front and push the
VOX button in. Then adjust the 1) VOX GAIN, 2) DELAY, and 3) ANTI-VOX so
that the radio 1) begins to transmit when you speak, 2) stops transmitting
shortly after you stop speaking, and 3) doesn't trip on background noise
