Rig to PC interface with TS-140s?
Can the TS-140S be linked to a PC? I have little info on this subject. I
heard about the IF-232C interface and the RS-232 serial port. But I need to hear from anyone who has linked his TS-140S to a PC. I have a bunch of projects in mind, now that I have the time. That's why I've been doing a lot of posting Thanks, KB2AMY |

http://www.packetradio.com/psk31.htm They sell the RASCAL interface kit. I use it all the time with my IBM Thinkpad and my 140S. "FAZAMY" wrote in message ... Can the TS-140S be linked to a PC? That's why I've been doing a lot of posting Thanks, KB2AMY I think there may be two topics here....are you looking for the interface that will allow you to control your radio with software on the PC, such as software to do logging, frequency and mode control, beam direction control, logging, etc., or are you looking for an interface to allow you to operate with soundcard software to get you on PSK31, RTTY, slow scan TV and other digital modes? The IF-232C interface may have been discontinued by now. The good news is that you can construct your own interface with a MAX32 IC, and a 74LS04 IC for about $4.00 plus a little box to mount the circuit in. If its a soundcard interface you're looking for the Rascal is a good choice as is the Tigertronics or Rigblaster. And there are a number of other good ones out there too. It all depends on how much money you want to spend. What exactly are you trying to do? The TS-140 is new enough to be computer controlled easily. 73 de WA2AFD |

Thanks for the help. I bought an interface from PIEXX, installed it, and it
works. Right now, it is used for my logging program. I'm awaiting mail order parts to use the keyboard to produce cw (and rtty I think.) I've been out of the building and technical loop for years. (Just been operating.) So the questions I've been asking might be considered dumb. So I'm relearning, researching, reading etc. and planning projects. The marriage of the pc and radio is another level I've got to familiarize myself with. So far retirement is great :-) 73, Evan KB2AMY |
