Default Capacitor Series question

I was just looking through the Digikey catalog for a 200Vdc, 220uf, radial
lead capacitor. No problem I thought, until I got looking.. Can anyone
tell me, or point me to a web site, that explains all the different series
of capacitors?
They vary in price from around $2 up to $8.

The DigiKey catalog itself has info about the salient features of the
various series. Perhaps you want to know specifically what to look
for, what matters. Key variables are the ability to handle ripple
current and maximum operating temperature. Also, some are rated for
high-frequency use...best to not use a low-frequency one in a critical
point in a switching power supply, where it would have a high ripple
current at the switching frequency.

You can also go to the manufacturers' web sites and find info on the
various series, and occasionally even find application notes.

Cheers,
Tom
