Tube amp questions

I am looking at a 10 Meter mobile amp with (2) 6KV6A or 6JG6A tubes. I know
these are originally sweep tubes. The input SWR is over 3:1 and I'm thinking
that a resistor has been replaced by a wire jumper. There is no series
resistance or capacitance between the input and tubes. Adding a 25 Ohm
resistor drops the input SWR to 1.5:1 or lower. So what kind of power output
should I see on AM and SSB without harming the tubes?

I used one like that, 100W PEP SSB, 40 carrier AM on my CB in the car for
a few years :-)

CB?? I tend to rmemeber that being slightly over the conditional limit for
transmission on those crappy frequencies. QRM+++

Did some testing. 6KV6A - 100W carrier, 6JG6A - 75W carrier. It produces up
to a 200W unmodulated carrier. I have no idea of PEP since my old Drake
meter can't mesure it. It is however, faily accurate for an unmodulated
carrier into a dummy load.

Behold, Chris signalled from keyed 4-1000A filament:

Aye, but 'cha canna modulate it linearly laddy ;-)

Heh, I wasn't your average "10-4 good buddy" op though ;-)
(well, tried not to be)

Only used it while travelling upcountry....I shut 'er off in the city and
rarely used it near home.
