Welcome back Spike.

Thanks!

It was a bit tedious wading through ~2300 ukra postings......

ROFL!

Makes you wonder about degrees from the UoE, does it not?

I believe it was claimed to be 'avant-garde' at the time - possibly
the sort of environment where lecturers sent off the students to
research things for themselves,

And someone swapped the signs on the bar and the library as an initiative
test?

ooooh.....you are awful......;-)

How about - anything, and everything, you can lay your hands on, for
the rest of your life. There are no "best" books - favourite books,
books that made an impact on you, yes. But "best" books - no, not
really. Just read everything you can from as many sources as you can.

de VK3BFA Andrew.

PS - and newsgroups, discussions - people post lots of interesting
stuff......

Polymath September 24th 05 05:28 AM

Yes, indeed, but you are arguing against a brick
wall here - those who hold, or who have ever held,
a licence issued under the gangrenous degeneration
that is the M3/CB Fools' Licence scheme, especially
those who were either too lazy or too stupid, or both,
to be able to tackle and then pass an exam aimed
at 14-year-olds and had to go instead for an
exam aimed at 6-year-olds.......reading just isn't
their strong point!

It is never a waste to fly the flag (standard?) for
the maintenance of standards.

It is never a waste to protect the status of Ham Radio
against the Mongolian hordes of intellectual ne'er-do-wells,
those who "pride" themselves on achieving a 6-year-old's
exam pass.

Hey, who cares.....if you want to know more, you will pursue it. If you
dont, you wont. leave politics to the politicians. Read some more,
build something, enjoy yourself, whatever.

Well, yes, your probably correct - I am sub literate. Should have been
reading English textbooks instead of radio ones. But then, if I had, we
wouldnt be having this discussion, because I wouldnt be interested in
reading radio related posts as I would be fully occupied arguing about
grammar. Just as pointless, really. And not germane to the original
post. Gosh, this is exciting! - I DO enjoy talking with people who are
clear, concise, and to the point.
