* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or
more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later" (WFWL).

2006 MOST WANTED SURVEY RESULTS ARE IN! Look for the complete results
of the "2006 Most Wanted Countries" in the January/February issue of
"The DX Magazine". From the top 100 world-wide listing/ranking, the
most wanted top 10 a
1) Scarborough Reef (BS7) 6) Glorioso (FR/G)
2) Lakshadweep (VU7) 7) Bouvet (3Y/B)
3) North Korea (P5) 8) Desecheo (KP5)
4) Yemen (7O) 9) Marion Island (ZS8)
5) Navassa (KP1) 10) Heard Island (VK0/H)

Editor Carl Smith, N4AA, does mention that this year's survey does
have an error. Swains Island was NOT shown on the survey form by mistake
and Carl apologizes for the error. Carl actually feels Swains Island is
the number one most wanted country due to the "relatively small number
of contacts" made by the KH8SI DXpedition and that "only one operation has
ever taken place from Swains Island". He states, "Although it is not shown
in the #1 spot on any of the reports, please consider it to be there."
Carl usually posts (not there yet) the results of the survey on "DX
Publishing, Inc." Web page at: http://www.dxpub.com/

3B8 & 5R8, MAURITIUS AND MADAGASCAR. Karl, DK2WV (one of the XF4DL crew),
is currently on holiday in Mauritius (AF-049) until January 20th and is
expected to be active as 3B8/DK2WV. He has been there since January 6th,
but we have not seen any QSNs on him yet. He is also expected to be active
as 5R8HG from Madagascar (AF-013) between January 21-23rd. Activity will
be on the HF bands using an amplifier and dipole antenna. QSL via his
home callsign by the bureau.

4TH ANTARCTIC ACTIVITY WEEK (AAW Update). The Worldwide Antarctic Program's
(WAP) 4th Antarctic Activity Week (AAW) will take place between 0000z,
February 19th and 2400z, February 25th.

* Stefan, DC2SF, will be active in the 4th AAW as DR2ØØ7ANT (WAP-83)
from Hochschule Ulm (JN58AK), Germany. QSL via the Bureau is preferred,
direct with no problem via DC2SF. QSLs will be printed in Spring 2007.
ADDED NOTE: DR2ØØ7ANT will also be active during the International
Polar Year starting March 1st. Activity will be from Michael's, DH8BM,
QTH in Ertingen (JN48RC), Germany.

* Lanny, W5BOS, will be joining the 4th AAW be signing N5T/ANT from
Texas, USA. His WAP reference is WAP-91.

* Operators Willy/OE3WWB, Reiner/OE3RPB, Karl/OE3KTA, Bert/OE3AIS,
Karl/OE3KKA and Gus/OE3SGA will join the 4th AAW by signing their
own callsigns/ANT. They wanted to apply for a club callsign but their
regulation in Austria will only allow them to work from each operator's
home station. The WAP reference number issued individually, is as
follows: OE3WWB/ANT WAP-85 OE3KKA/ANT WAP-88
OE3RPB/ANT WAP-86 OE3AIS/ANT WAP-89
OE3KTA/ANT WAP-87 OE3SGA/ANT WAP-90
They will be active mainly on SSB but also PSK and CW from February
19-25th.

* Correction. Last week, under "stations announced/lined" to be active
for the AAW, had K4A's operator listed as K6IED and it should have
been K6EID. Information was listed wrong on the WAP Web site.

For more details/updates on the WAP and the 4th AAW, please see the
following Web page at: http://www.ddxc.net/wap

5T, MAURITANIA. Benoit, F8PDR (ex-6W7/F8PDR), will be active as 5T5DY

meters, using only 100w into a vertical antenna and a G5RV antenna. Since
amplifiers are not allowed, Benoit will try to focus on most evenings
on the low bands (160/80m). Benoit says a great thanks to Jean, 5T0JL,
for helping him with official formalities to get a 5T5 licence. QSL via
the bureau (French REF-Union Bureau only) or direct to: Benoit Lebourgeois,
Route de Chevry, F-50420 Tessy sur Vire, FRANCE.

situation; this schedule is subject to any changes at anytime. He will
be activating his 6O0M callsign again. Most of his activity will be during
his local evening hours while daytime is worktime. He will be using wire
antennas (same as last year) and only 100w from a FT857. QSL via PA7FM:

on your QSL card, and instead he will send an eQSL. ADDED NOTE: Andrew
has announced the following schedule later in the week:

designated frequencies +/- 10 kHz to allow for QRM.

3Y0X QSLS. QSLs via Bob, N2OO. Bob reports: "I am expecting a large
crush of QSL mail once the VU7RG operation gets going. So, if you have
been waiting to send for your 3Y0X, CE0Z, XR9A QSLs (or any other QSL
I handle), right now is a GOOD time to send for it. Once the VU7 mail
starts coming in, all other QSLs I handle COULD be delayed a bit.
Remember! If you use IRCs, ONLY send the NEW current IRCs that expire
Dec 31, 2009."

5A7A QSL STATUS. Andy, DJ7IK, informed OPDX on January 8th that some

that there are two different QSL cards which and they can be viewed
on the 5A7A Web page at: http://5a7a.gmxhome.de/qsl.htm
Please remember that they can only accept the new valid IRCs for direct
return. QSL cards sent with old IRCs will be answered via the bureau,
but with the first batch. ADDED NOTES: Several articles have been written
about their DXpdedition for QST, ARRL and other ham magazines which
will be published soon. Andy, DJ7IK, states that he is producing a
powerpoint presentaion about 5A7A, and Rudi, DK7PE, is working hard on
their DXpedition video. Meantime you can watch video samples on:

Just search for 5A7A. The team is happy to make Jari's, OH2BU, "Mega
DXpedition List", listed in the 4th position after D68C, 3B9C and 4O3T,

usual channels, i.e. direct with adequate return postage and SAE, E-mail
for a bureau reply or via the RSGB Bureau. His E-mail address is:

QSL STATUS FOR YX0A AND YX0LIX. QSL Manager Steve, KU9C, reported on
January 10th, the following: "As of this morning, I've probably got
about 25% of the card requests in the mail. Many more to do, so please
be patient. The timing of the stuff I need to manage the QSL sending
came at a bit of an inopportune time for me with other commitments, but
I'm hammering them out. A few notes:
- There were a number of QSOs that DID NOT make it in the initial logs
that are online. I've recently received a final update, and am checking
the 'not in logs' thoroughly against these new logs. Unfortunately,
this is going to slow me up a bit, but I want to make sure you get
credit for as many QSOs as I can match!

- A number of you requested QSLs for other stations I manage. I've been
able to finish many of these before the YX0 cards arrived, so that
hasn't slowed me down...but for those of those I missed, this will
slow the request down substantially. Please do not re-submit, as this
just adds confusion.

- I'll be putting up the logs in LOTW, but this will be after I get the
direct cards mailed, for a number of reasons.

I'll update as I get down the pile further. 73, and
Happy New Year -- Steve KU9C"

S21, BANGLADESH (Update). The "Bangladesh 2007 DXpedition" is now active

QSL via EA3BT (direct or by the bureau). Further information and updates

XT, BURKINA FASO (Update). The F6KOP ARS of Provins group continues to
be active as XT2C from Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso.
Activity will last until January 20th. The team reported Sunday morning
that some of the operators are still ill, but they continue to operate.
They are all close to their physical limits, and even the strongest team
members are exhausted. However, they are still having fun and are in a
good mood. The propagation is not as good as during their first days of
operation. They also report that the low bands (160-40m) are now very
noisy, and signals on the higher bands during daytime have a strong QSB.
QSOs count as of Sunday's report is about 36,558. The QSL Manager for
XT2C is F9IE, by the bureau or direct to: Bernard Chereau, BP 211,
85330 Noirmoutier en l'ile, France. If you wish to receive a QSL via
bureau, you can speed up the process by sending a list of your QSOs by
E-mail (with callsign, date, time, band and mode of each QSO) after
January 21st to:
By following this procedure, you do not need to send a paper QSL via bureau.
All requests received via e-mail or bureau will be answered. Visit the
XT2C Web page at:
