3B6, AGALEGA (Update). Team leader Witek, SP9MRO, sent out the following
press release: Newsletter No. 2 -- "We would like to inform, that Polish
expedition to Agalega Islands, planning its activity from March 22nd
until April 2nd, 2007, is in the middle of negotiations with transporting
companies concerning the insurance and the equipment's transport to the
islands.
So far the previous assumptions have much changed - the transporter set
up costs highly inadequate to the preliminary. The expedition's budget
estimated for 70,000 EUR is not sufficient!
The expedition is actively seeking for sponsors and financial aid from
every institution and foundation. Our cooperation conditions are presented
on expedition's web page http://3b6.godx.eu/ as well as we are willing
to organize actual conversation concerning the sponsoring.
The group is planning to execute about 40,000 QSOs during its activity,
mainly using the emissions CW, SSB and RTTY.
On our web page, you can find two surveys concerning the emission and
frequency of activity that are expected by our correspondents. Their
results will be considered during the activity from 3B6 islands."

3B7, ST. BRANDON (DXpedition Update/Press Release). Don Field, G3XTT,
FSDXA Publicity Officer, sent out a press release this past week titled
"FSDXA St. Brandon DXpedition * Bulletin No.3". Excerpts from the release
state: "Two members of FSDXA recently visited Mauritius to set up logistics
for the September operation from St.Brandon (see previous press releases).
We are pleased to say that all the necessary permits and licences are in
hand, and a suitable ship has been located to take the team members and
something like 6 tons of equipment to the island. There is still a lot
to be done, but we are all looking forward to putting another rare one on
the air." Also, the release mentions the recent DX Magazine's “Most Wanted”
survey which lists 3B6/7 at 45 overall, but at a high 18th place on the U.S.
West Coast. Other area rankings were also noted: Europe 55th, Asia 47th,
North America overall 40th, U.S. Eastern 40th, U.S. Central 63rd, U.S.
Mountain 66th and the Rest of World at 26th. The press release states:
"Clearly this means we will make a particular effort to work U.S. West
Coast as well as ensuring we don’t forget those 'other' parts of the
world (Africa, South America, VK/ZL, etc.)." The FSDXA is also delighted
to announce that they have been selected to receive a Colvin Award in
respect of 3B7C. As well as the Colvin award, FSDXA announced that NCDXF
(Northern California DX Foundation) and the UK’s CDXC (Chiltern DX Club,
the UK DX Foundation) have recently come on board with sponsorship, but
further sponsorship is still required to make this very large scale
operation possible. Details appeared in previous press releases or can
be obtained from the author.

STATUS OF THE YX0A/YX0LIX QSLS: QSL Manager Steve, KU9C, reports: "I've
mailed about 70% of the cards as of this morning. What's left to do is
a large pile of cards that have the following issues:
- 'sticky' qsos that are not in log. There appears to have been at
least two major 'slim' runs, one on 15 meters and one on 80 meters
that are creating a need to triple check some q's.

- folks that requested /mm cards. I've got to do those, and have been
concentrating on getting out the Aves Island card first.

- folks that requested other cards that I manage.

- I've not started bureau cards yet, and won't for some time. I apologize
for the slow delivery of these cards; my hope was to be able to mail
these a long time ago, when I had some slack time in my schedule, but
the process 'came together' just as some hectic work and personal
commitments came into my schedule.

Doing the best I can, have patience... 73 Steve KU9C"
