1A0, SOV. MIL. ORDER OF MALTA. Word came out this past week that a
multinational team lead by Francesco, IK0FVC, will activate 1A0KM from
the Sovereign Military Order of Malta between July 12-22nd. QSL via
IK0FTA. There is talk that the logs might be uploaded to LoTW. More
details are forthcoming.

3B7, ST. BRANDON ISLANDS (Not Agalega/DXpedition Update). Dxpedition
leader, Witek, SP9MRO, and his team encountered problems with their
catamaran on their way to Agalega Island (3B6) and had to head to St.
Brandon Island (3B7) instead. It seems their catamaran "Josephina", had
lost one of two engines and a sail which was torn due to high winds and
bad seas. However, all are safe and the catamaran was towed by a
fishing vessel called "Covadis" to the Island of Raphael (St. Brandon
Island). OPDX was told that St. Raphael Island "is like a football play
ground with two buildings, one for the Coast guards and the second, a 6
room bungalow for the Meteorological services, but with no water and
light, only one generator and two wideband G5RV and lots and lots of
birds, this place is more beautiful than Agalega." The team has
received permission to operate as 3B7SP while their catamaran is being
repaired. Activity will possibly last until June 19th. QSL via SP9SX.

3D2, ROTUMA ISLAND (OC-060). It seems Tony, 3D2AG, has delayed his trip
to Rotuma until possibly November or December 2007.

4U1U, UNITED NATIONS HQ. Operators Johnny/LA5IIA, Martti/OH2BH and
Bernie/ W3UR were active this past Saturday, June 9th, from the UN HQ
as 4U1UN. Remember to QSL via HB9BOU.

9A07, CROATIA (Special Event). Look for special event station 9A07P
(Nine Alpha ZERO SEVEN Papa) to be active now through December 31st.
Activity is to celebrate the city of Djurdjevac, and operations will be
on all bands and modes. A special QSL card will be issued with a story
on it. All QSOs will be confirmed automatically via the bureau.

9X, RWANDA. Vlad, UA4WHX, is now active as 9X0VB (as June 6th) from
this rare DXCC entity. As always, the length of his stay is unknown.
Activity over the past weekend was on 80/30/20/17/12/10 meters CW/SSB.
QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau. It is recommend
to send direct cards after his travels.

A2, BOTSWANA (Update). Frosty, K5LBU/A25CF, informs that they have in
hand their callsigns for the Botswana operation this July. Their
activity will start around July 5th or 6th and last until the 20th.
They plan to be active on all bands from 160-6 meters on CW and SSB,
with operations also on 6/2 meters and 70cm EME. Hal, ZS6WB (A25HL),
will do the Digi modes. They plan to have a M2 6 meter beam up on top
of one of the towers which will be about 60 feet high using at least
300-400 watts or more. Hal, who does most of the EME, is a retired
American that lives in South Africa. The whole team consists of:
Dan/ZS6JR (A25DW), Frosty/K5LBU (A25CF), Wayne/W5KDJ (A25KDJ), Jay/W5SL
(A25SL), John/GM3OOK (A25OOK), Lee/WA8QFE (A25LT), Jan/ZS6OB (A25OB),
Hal/ZS6WB (A25HL) and Dick/ZS6BUN (A25BUN).

AL0/KL7, ALASKA (IOTA Op). Lanny, W5BOS, informs OPDX that he will
operate from 2 islands in Alaska between August 2-7th. The first will
be a new IOTA, Semidi Islands (NA-235/P) using the callsign W5BOS/KL7.
All of the Semidi Islands and associated rocks are part of the National
Wilderness Preservation System, and as a designated Wilderness, it is
closed to mechanical equipment such as generators. This operation will
be battery power only. The second operation will be from Unavikshak
Island (NA-238) using the callsign W5BOS/AL0. This island was activated
last year, but conditions were very poor and Lanny wants to give the
guys that missed it another chance. QSL both operations via N6AWD.

BS7H PRESS RELEASE #14 (June 9, 2007): LOTW upload for donors
"Today the BS7H team uploaded to the ARRL LOTW website a partial log
containing QSOs for those DXers who supported BS7H with donations sent
either via the website credit card procedure or thorough the mail in
form off the website.
This was a special 'Thank You' to those who made the effort to
support our operation. The cutoff date of this log is as of today's
website donation listing.
The there will be additional periodic uploads of the log to LOTW as
QSLing proceeds, and a full upload will be done as soon as the bulk of
the direct QSLs are answered.

Direct cards are expected to start going out in early July.

CS6, PORTUGAL (Special Event). Operators Jose/CT1EHX, Toze/CT1GFK,
Goncalo/CT1GPQ, Miguel/CT1IUA, Rui/CT2IHP, Jose/CT1DVG, Jose/CT1EPS,
Arnaldo/CT2IOV and Antonio/CT2IOU will be active as CS26X betwen July
16-22nd. Activity will be on 160-6 meters including the WARC bands,
CW, SSB and RTTY. The activation is to celebrate the local meeting of
the 26th International Motard Meeting of Faro (organization Moto Clube
Faro). QSL via CT1EHX, by the bureau or direct.

EA6, BALEARIC ISLANDS. Jorge, EA8TL, will be portable /EA6 from his
mobile between July 31st to August 24th as he visits Ibiza and
Formentera Islands this summer. Using an ICOM 706 MKIIG (100w HF
and 50w VHF) Transceiver, look for Jorge to be active on 80, 40, 20,
17, 15, 12, 10 and 2 meters SSB. Antennas a Eco Veicolare (mono-
bands).

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN. Look for six operators from the Flying Dutch DX
Group to be active from Triesenberg as HB0/PA0ABM, June 15-22nd. Their
activity will be on 160-10 meters CW, SSB and some digital modes with
two stations. QSL via PA0ABM, direct or by the bureau. Logs will be

I1, ITALY. Paolo, F8ENY, will be active as I1/F8ENY/p from the Piemont
Province. He will be operating mainly CW as QRP with an Elecraft K1 and

IOTA NEWS.....................
AF-004. Wilko, PA3BWK, will be active as EA8/PA3BWK from the Island
of Lanzarote (DIE S-007, Punta Pechiguera lighthouse FEA
D-2782, WLOTA LH-0099, WW Loc. IL38BU), June 10-16th.
Activity will be on 40-10 meters, mainly CW, at 10 kHz up
from the lower band edge. QSL via PA0ZE (QRZ.com).

AF-018. Operator Giuseppe, IT9BLB, will be active as IH9/IT9BLB from
Pantelleria Island during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July
28-29th) as Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via his home
callsign.

AF-019. Operators Isido/I1XOI, Piera/IK1AIF, Mario/IW1PZC, Giovanni/
IZ1DFG, Giorgio/IZ1HGP, Mauro/IW2KVT, Giuseppe/I2AZ and
possibily Emanuele/IW2NOD will be active as IG9/homecall
from Lampedusa Island (AG-001, MIA MI-126, WLOTA LH-2312)
between now and June 19th. Activity will be on the HF bands
plus 6 and 2 meters, CW and SSB. QSL via their home
callsigns, direct or by the bureau.

AS-017. Operators JA1KJW, JJ1JGI, JK1EBA and 7N4AGB will be active
from Okinawa Island (JIIA AS-017-033, WLOTA LH-0275) as
homecall/JR6, June 15-18th. Activity will be on the HF bands
and 6 meters CW and SSB. QSL via their home callsigns,
direct or by the bureau.

AS-151. Zhang, BD3APX, will be active as BD3APX/2 from Juhua Island
between June 29th-July 1st. Activity will be on 40-10 meters
on CW, SSB and Digital modes. QSL via BD3APX.

EU-067. Members of the SV DX Group will be active as SY8AN from
Antiparos Island (MIA MG-016) between now and June 17th.
Activity will be active on all bands CW, SSB and RTTY.

EU-071. Kent, SM5ELV, will be active from Heimaey Island [also known
as Vestmannaeyjar] (also counts for WLOTA LH-0976) between
now June 13th. Activity will be on most of the HF bands and
modes, depending on conditions. He will use an IC-706 with
100 watts into a vertical and maybe a dipole. Kent will also
possibly try 6 meters and some Digi modes as well. QSL via
his home callsign.

NA-122. Herman, ON4QX and a group from the Dominican Republic will
activate Cabras Island as HI0C between June 11-17th. Cabras
has not been on the air for at least 18 years. They plan to
have fours stations on the air: HF, 6m, 2m, SSB and RTTY.
QSL via ON4IQ.

NA-231. Operators Cezar/VE3LYC and Ken/G3OCA are all set to go on
schedule to activate East Pen Island between July 20-22nd.
They will use the following callsigns: VE3LYC/VY0 (Cezar)
and VY0/G3OCA (Ken). According to Canada/U.S. treaty,
stations from either country that operate portable from any
region within the territory must use the identifier as
suffix (VE3LYC/VY0). All other stations have to use the
identifier as prefix (VY0/G3OCA). QSL via VE3LYC, direct or
by the bureau (G/GM/GW/GI stations can confirm via G3OCA).

OC-185. Operators Stuart/VK8NSB and Joe/VK8VTX are expected to
activate Elcho Island, in the Northern Territory (Arafura
Sea coast) East Group, between June 15-19th. The callsign
has not been announced yet. Activity is planned for 80-10
meters CW, SSB, PSK and RTTY, with two stations on the air
(1 digital and 1 CW/SSB). QSL via VK6NE (QRZ.com).

SA-089. Members of the 4M5DX Group will be active as YW1DX from Cayo
Sombrero during the next IOTA Contest (July 28-29th) as a
Multi-Op/Mixed-Mode/High-Power entry in the DXpedition cate-
gory. The team consists of: Alex/YV5SSB, Jose/YV5TX, Julio/
YV1RDX, Jesus/YV5MSG, Olli/YV5WW (OH0XX), Greg/YV5OHW and
Pasquale/YV5KAJ. They hope to be on the island Friday the
26th in order to set up and activate the island on WARC
bands before the contest starts. Activity during the contest
will be on 80/40/20/15/10 meters, CW, SSB and RTTY. After
the contest, they hope to be on 160-10 meters and the WARC

KH3, JOHNSTON ISLAND. As this was being typed, Skipper of the USSV
Dharma, Susan Meckley, W7KFI, informed OPDX that she is enroute to
Johnston Island and should be there by the end of of week. Activity
will be on 80-10 meters on SSB and CW, usually at 036 above the bottom
of the band. Susan is expected to be here for about a week before
heading to Marshall Islands (3 weeks further south west). By the way,
Susan is a 70 year old grandmother who has been sailing all over the
Pacific. This amazing lady is an interesting story. It is highly
recommend to visit the following Web pages to see where she has been,

KP3, PUERTO RICO (Special Event). If you heard and worked KP3RE this
past Saturday, June 9th, between 1300 and 1800 UTC, it was a special
event station that was active from the Jesus T. Pinero Museum in the
City of Canovanas, Puerto Rico. Jose, KP4VP, informs OPDX that Mr.
Jesus T. Pinero was the first Puerto Rican Governor appointed by the
President of the United States in 1948. In addition, he was one of the
first amateur radio operators in Puerto Rico (KP4 Land). The Museum is
actually his former residence, and the main focus at this time is to
highlight his life not only as a former Governor, but also his human
side as a Amateur Radio Operator. Please refer to the following link

LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITIES......................
Look for Phil, F5OGG, to be active as F5OGG/p from the Noirmoutier
Lighthouse (WLOTA 1224 and also EU-064) during the next WLOTA Contest
(June 30th-July 1st) but only on June 30th. Activity will be on 20
meters CW/SSB. There will be no precontest activity. QSL via his home

Members of the F6KMB ARC will be active as F6KMB/P from Dunkerque
West Pier Lighthouse (PB 201, for the French Onshore lighthouses
Award - DPLF). Activity will be on all HF bands, SSB and CW.

Look for the special callsign PB6KNRM to be activate on June 30th
from the Noordwijk Lighthouse (ARLHS NET-019), located in Zuid-
Holland Province, on the North Sea coast. Also, on this day, the
KNRM-lifesavingboat will be delivered at KNRM-post Noordwijk. QSL
via PA7DA. Notes: Old records indicate that a light was in use at
Noordwijk in 1444 to help fishermen. Other lights have succeeded it
since then. The current lighthouse, built in 1921-22, was declared a
national monument in 1980. It was reportedly under restoration in
2004. Nearest town or city: Noordwijk aan Zee, Netherlands.

Members of the Cofresi Radio Club will activate the "Los Morillos
Lighthouse" (WLOTA 2802 and ARLHS PUR-002), also known as "Cabo Rojo
Lighthouse", located in the city of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, as WP4NRT
during the next WLOTA Contest (June 30th-July 1st). Activity will be
on 80-10 meters, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via WP4NRX.

OX. GREENLAND (NA-018). Operators Jurgen/DJ5HD, Wolfgang/DJ5ZWS and

NEVER GIVE UP! Gabe, KP4BJD, informs OPDX that he was pleasantly
surprised this past week when he received a QSL card from WA6DDR/KM6
(Midway Island) for a QSO he made on the 29th of May in 1963 on 20
meters SSB. Gabe states, "The operator Mac soon after retired from
the U.S, Navy... his callsign is now K4RBM. Mac went to the Dayton
Hamvention for his first time this year, 'enjoyed it a lot' ..and it
seems to sparked his interest all over again .. enough to catch up
with old QSL cards he had not answered ... So, there’s hope for those
who wait, if they have 'enough' patience."

N8S QSL STATUS. Dragan, YZ1EW/RA4U, reported on June 8th that the
first batch of 1000 N8S QSL cards were mailed. Other cards will be
mailed in the next 30 days.

YW0DX (Wrap-up). OPDX was informed that the log is uploaded to LoTW.
Conrad, IT9DAA, states, " This DXpedition (to Aves Island - NA-020)
was a success although there was not much time to operate and we had
fewer operators than expected. Hence we had to adjust our operating
plan and concentrate on the low bands and RTTY. Unfortunately, the
planned schedule of our Naval Army could not be altered, and there-
fore our length of stay on the island had to be cut short. Our
on-the-air time was subject to numerous interruptions due to main-
tenance required to keep the local generators running. Aves Island
was on the air from February 8-13th, 2007. Despite the difficulties
involved, our final score reached 23,000 QSOs - quite good for just
70 hours of operating. Regrettably, propagation conditions on the
high bands were not favorable. Anyway, heavy pileups on 160m and 80m
proved an unforgettable experience. Logs, video, photos and QSL

"Hi - I am writing on behalf of Fr. Apollo, SV22ASP/A. Last month he
has been quite active on SSB, CW, and RTTY (with over 1,500 QSOs in the
log). HOWEVER some idiot who did not have anything better to do with
his time, transmitted using his callsign on CW while Fr. Apollo was
operating on phone! Fr. Apollo thus asked me to clarify that on 5/16/07
11:00pm-2:00am he was operating PHONE. CW CONTACTS AT THIS TIME ARE
PIRATE. All other CW contacts should be ok. He has received a lot of
cards for contacts that are not in his log (occurred at the time I
indicated above), and he is feeling really bad for those who are writ-
ing him, wasting their time and money. He is really busy right now, as
the Fathers are building three big cisterns for the monastery, so he
does not forsee any further activity for awhile. I would really
appreciate if you could spread this message through your respective

TA, TURKEY. Charlie, GI4FUE, will once again be active as TA4/GI4FUE
from Marmaris, Turkey, June 12-24th. Activity will be holiday style and
mostly on 30/20/17/15/12/10 meters CW. He hopes to be able to take a
portable 6 meters antenna with him to activate KM46du. QSL via his home

TO5, MARTINIQUE (NA-107). Alain, F5LMJ (ex-XT2C), will be active as
TO5J from the city of the Francois between July-14-28th. Activity will
be mainly on CW and the digital modes. QSL via his home callsign, but
all QSOs will be confirmed automatically via the bureau and LoTW.

V3, BELIZE. Colin, KU5B, will be active as V31UB from July 12-17th. He
will be operating mostly nights on both HF SSB and CW with a minimal
plan to operate on 6m. Colin is also planning to operate in the IARU
Contest (July 14-15th) that weekend with a category still yet to be

V60, MICRONESIA. Six members of the Japan Amateur Radio League (JARL)
Kyoto Club, will be planning a DXpedition to the Federated States of
Micronesia (FSM) this summer. This is one of the events celebrating the
club's 60th anniversary. Activity will be from the South Park Hotel
on Pohnpei Island (OC-010) between July 30th and August 5th. Operations
will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB/FM/RTTY/PSK31, depending on the band
conditions. The team has been allowed to use the special, brand new V60
prefix to celebrate their club's 60th anniversary (thanks to Mark
DeOrio, Frequency Manager at the FSM Department of Transportation,
Communications & Infrastructure). Look for the following callsigns
