3Y, BOUVET ISLAND (Update). Petrus, 3Y0E, continues to be active daily
on 14260 kHz usually between 1600-2030z. The 3Y0E operation is quickly
coming to an end. The team is scheduled to be picked up from Bouvet Island

and the speed of the ship or any other urgent matter beyond their control.
Feel free to follow the movements of the ship at the following website:
http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=ZSAF
Petrus, 3Y0E, also did an exclusive radio interview with a commercial
radio station in the Falken Islands. The interview can be found on the
following Web site. Look for updates and announcements on the official
3Y0E operation Web page at: http://www.3y0e.com
Emil, LZ3HI, states that he will start confirming all incoming direct
cards. Please look carefully on the online log and find your callsign
logged correctly before sending him your QSL card. The 3Y0E log is now
available online at: http://sq8aqd.net/3y0e/index.php

DXCC NEWS.........
* Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Manager, states that the following operation
is approved for DXCC credit:
E4/OM2DX - Palestine; 2007 Operation

* There have been a few reports indicating that YA/LY1Y being submitted
for DXCC credit is being rejected "do to lack of documentation". Other
QSLs rejected a C98GLO (2/19/2007 - Doc's pending)
CT1EEX/D2 (8/8/2006 - No doc's)
TT8PK (10/14/2006 - No doc's)
YA/IZ0EGM (8/22/2006 - No doc's)
ZB2/4O3AL (2/24/2007 - No doc's)

* STILL WAITING for the return of your DXCC applications: Steve, KZ2I,
reports: "Just received the paperwork back for my late 2007 DXCC
submission. The field-checked, 50 credit application was checked in
at Newington on September 1, 2007. The date processed (that's what it
says on credit slip) was November 12, 2007. I guess the final processing
and billing took place on January 16-17, 2008, postmarked January 22,
2008, and received back here in NC today (January 28). Long wait but
the #1 Honor Roll stickers are finally on the certificates. Oh, wait
a minute. Since the submission took place, there's a new one on the
list. Does that mean I have to take the stickers off? hihi..."

Art's 7th operation from South Water Caye, and his 13th trip to Belize

ear out. Also, send us some QRNs.

VP6, DUCIE ISLAND (Update). Milt, N5IA, a team member of the VP6DX
DXpedition, reported on Saturday, February 2nd, that he is expected to be
in Papeete, Tahiti, on Sunday, February 3rd. All the VP6DX team will be in
Papeete by the early morning hours of Monday, February 4th. The team will
have it's first official meeting in the afternoon after a lunch with local
FO hams. The flight to Mangareva in the Gambier Islands is early Tuesday,
February 5th. As quickly as possible, the team will clear immigration
and customs and board the Braveheart. The Braveheart is now at dock in
Mangareva. Milt has been in daily contact with Robin, WA6CDR, for the
last 4 days, via 40 meters SSB. The Braveheart crew is waiting for the
VP6DX. Milt states that the cruise time to Ducie is 72 hours with off
loading to the island to begin at first light the morning of Saturday,
February 9th (~1400z). Construction of the camps and seven operating
stations/antenna systems is planned to take 3 full days. Operation, with
all seven stations coming on the air near simultaneously, is anticipated
to occur near sunset on Monday, February 11th (~0400z, February 12th).
The most unknown element in all the planning is the weather. Operations
will be non-stop (24/7) with 7 stations for approximately 18 days. They
will have 13 operators. Milt states, "Figure it out folks. That is
essentially a '12 on/12 off' schedule for each operator for the entire
DXpedition operating period. Shifts will most likely be in the 3-4 hour
range. Eating, sleeping, personal hygiene, laundry, etc., all have to
take place in the limited time off periods. This is not your normal
'working vacation'. Wish us wellness and the stamina to make it all happen."
For TOPBANDERS and the low band operators, Milt recommends the reading
of News Release # 9 on the VP6DX.com website. Go to:
http://ducie2008.dl1mgb.com/index.ph...tpage&Itemid=1
Also, look for VP6DX to operate in the CQ 160 SSB Contest at the end of
February. Milt states, "This period of time will be the prime opportunity
for Topband SSB contacts with the expedition. I am looking forward to
being the operator when many of the Topband contacts are made..... Please
be patient and follow instructions. You will make it into the log if
there is propagation. We will be operating approximately 18 days if all
goes as planned." For more details on donating and updates, visit the
VP6DX Web page at: http://www.vp6dx.com

support thereby allowing Radar time to concentrate on operating. They
are in the process of acquiring an amp and low band antennas for him.
Radar just received an IC-7000 on loan from ICOM. NCDXF and INDEXA are
providing funds for a purchase of a SteppIR 2 element beam and other
basic station gear. Initial operations will be on 17 and 20 meters
utilizing a wire antenna until a SteppIR yagi shipped by the support
team arrives. Once fully operational, activity will be on 160-10 meters.
