Default radios broadcasting on 2 frequencies at same time

Last night heard a broadcast between 2 people... The strange part is, whatever radios they were using were transmitting on both 155.67750 & 155.68500 at the same time.

What I'd like to know, Is this kind of thing common - where radios will transmit & recieve on 2 different frequencies at the same time???
