A.R.I. XV Italian EME Contest 2008, CW-SSB rules:
Period: from 00.00 UTC of 20 September 2008 to 24.00 UTC of 21
September 2008 - Bands: 50 Mhz and up, only via Moon reflection
Modes: CW, SSB. Categories for bands 144 and 432 MHz: Stations are
subdivided by power and type of antenna employed. For yagis the total
lenght, in wavelenghts, is considered (distance reflector-last
director multiplied by the number of yagis in the array), for
parabolic reflectors the dish diameter is considered... The total

The first Amateur Lunar tests & contacts 1953-1970 (at OK2KKW page)
Lunar DX on 144 Mc! [1953] W4AO and W3GKP Bounce 2-Meter Signals Off
the Moon - OUR COVER: Aiming an antenna at the moon is an exacting
proposition. Our cover shows W4AO, left, and W3GKP checking the
alignment of the 20 wavelength stacked rhombics used for Project
Moonbeam. Listening to the wire recording from which the above graph
was made, it doesn’t sound like much; a one-second beep, an interval
of receiver noise, then a wavering trailing bee-e-e-e-p barely
discernible in the midst of the slightly musical rushing sound that
is characteristic of high-selectivity reception. You wouldn’t be
impressed if you happened to hear it casually, but to Ross Bateman,
W4AO, and Bill Smith, W3GKP, it was music of the sweetest sort...

We are close to leave France (tomorrow morning 5am) and strongly
expecting to contact you in the next following days on 144 EME.
The blog will be updated with infos as long as we will be able to
send datas and pictures to Frederic who is supporting us 'remote'.
During our JA windows, we will dual monitor JT65B on 144.084 (only
for JA please) and 144.114 (spread...) and, if everything is working
fine, we should manage to call in cw on 144.054 sometimes (+/- birdies).

Very bad NEWS de Matej, OK1TEH, abt. PZ5-EME-Trip, dated 2008-09-18
"I'm sorry to announce that the VHF EME part of PZ5Z expedition was
canceled. We had some problems with local 2m license as well as with
possible QRM from 20m far HF yagies with everyday QRO (PZ5Z license
is valid only for PZ5RA's QTH). However we don't give up and would
go there for 100% EME expedition without HF during spring or summer
2009. If we know the date & details for sure, we will announce it

We (OK1FKL Karel, OK1LX Peter, OK1MCS Pavel, OK1PGS Franta and OK5RS
Radek) stay on Corsica from 20th September to 6th October, we should
be QRV also sometimes on Shortwave and may be also with smaller RIG
on 144MHz. As well they be qrv during the October UHF Contest on 70cm

Just a quick note to let everyone know I am now QRT from EM13.
I am in the process of relocating to a new QTH (DM82) for business
reasons. I hope to be QRV from there soon but it will probably
take several months before I get settled and start rebuilding.

There will be a mining activity in OK from the members of the DOK
Auerbach / Vogtland (S56) and Aue-Schwarzenberg (S45) at 20. und
21. September at the Mariahilf-Stollen in Medenec / Kupferberg at
abt 900 m asl on the Erzgebirgskamm in JO60NK. The group will be
using OK/homecall/p and be on HF, 144 and 432 MHz...

Aloha to all: I will be in northern Canada again on the 25th Sept.
DO69, slash VE5. I have some telemetry to install at a uranium
prospect there and will be taking some 144 Mcs. gear. I will run
meteors on 144.143, FSK, always second. I am not much for the Ping
Jockey but others will likely announce my presence. I am likely to
be active after 0000z the 26, 27 and 28 September (25, 26 and 27th
September USA) I'll have a travel style 17b2 and my 400 watt puddle
cooled brick (upside down TE Systems in a puddle of water, I have
many of you with this from many DXCC locations, don't laugh, much
less power budget than DC fans)...... Until then, see some of you

GB1CM, which is to commemorate the first anniversary of the loss
of the rally driver Collin McRae, will be on the air during the
month of September on 80m through to 6m on SSB. The call sign 'GB1CM'
is to commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic loss of life of
'Colin McRae' on the 15th September 2007,the greatest British rally
driver ever, winning the 1995 WRC title along with being the British
Rally Champion in 1991 and 1992, I feel Colin McRae was well loved and
best known for is exploits with his 'Subaru Impreza'in the WRC events.
He is missed by all who knew him and his many thousands of fans.

Members of the Bittern DX Group will be once again operating GB2TX
raising awareness and funds for the British Wireless for the Blind
Fund over "Transmission 2008" weekend (20th - 21st September) @ EMCY
Garden Centre, Holt in Norfolk. Last year GB2TX scooped both club
Transmission trophies for most contacts of 1165 QSOs and most
funds raised of £1750, which was a staggering 31% of the National
total raised by the event. Please help us to help others by giving
us a call and if you feel so inclined, we can also accept donations
online, remember every pound helps. We'll be QRV most bands from
