DXNL 1607 - Jan 21, 2009
DX Newsletter

a free and weekly service of
DARC Committee "DX and HF contesting"

)

C6 - BAHAMAS, NA-001
Karney,W2AFC, Dave,N1EMC, and Bill,NE1B (C6AWB), will meet Tom,C6ANM,
in Nassau (NA-001) to operate in these upcoming contests:
CQWW 160m CW (Jan 23-25), ARRL DX CW (Feb 21/22),
CQWW 160m SSB (Feb 27-Mar 1) and ARRL DX SSB Contest (Mar 6-8).
Tom,C6ANM, is staying in the Bahamas since Jan 1 and works on 160m-6m
until Apr 1. He prefers QSL via LoTW or direct to WA2IYO.

CT - PORTUGAL
Marq,CT1BWW, will use the call CS6BWW in all major contests in January,
February and March. QSLs via bureau to his homecall.

FW - WALLIS AND FUTUNA, OC-054
Eli,HA9RE, is team leader of a DXpedition to Wallis (OC-054) which
plans to hit the airwaves as FW5RE from Jan 28 until Feb 17. Eli will
be accompanied by Laci,HA0NAR, and Sara,HA9SDA. They want to work with
two stations at the same time in CW/SSB/RTTY on 160m-10m. They will use
a 24m long vertical for 160m/80m/40m, a Spiderbeam for 20m/17m/15m/10m,
an HB9CV on 20m-15m and a 7-band Butternut vertical.
Their QSL manager is HA8IB.

HK0/SA - SAN ANDRES ISLAND, NA-033
Mike,K5UO, Cal,WF5W, and Rob,HK3CW, hit the mark when they announced
their activity from San Andres (NA-033) during the CQWW 160m CW Contest
from Jan 23-25 because the demand for this counter on 160m should be
tremendous. The team of three will join the multi/single class signing
5K0CW. They will stay active from the island for another week working
also in RTTY and on the other HF bands. The team will use a modified
"Battle Creek Special" vertical and a K9AY receiving antenna.
QSL cards are managed by W5PF.

HS - THAILAND
Manfred,DL2EBR, will stay in Nakhon Nayok for a longer period of time.
He is licensed as HS0ZEU and enjoys digital modes like PSK and SSTV.
He requests QSLs via the RAST QSL bureau.

V3 - BELIZE
Gerd,V31YN (DJ4KW), and Gisela,V31GW (DK9GG), are staying in Belize
between Jan 19 and the beginning of March. They plan to activate IOTA
NA-180 as V31YN/p from Feb 26 until Mar 3.
QSLs direct, via bureau or LoTW via their homecalls.

AUSTRALIA, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) assigned the

is the oldest amateur radio club in Australia. The club was founded on
Jan 27, 1919, and got its first callsign N249 on Aug 18, 1920. Later
this was changed to 2BV and then VK2BV after all. Thus VI2BV90 is
celebrating the 90th birthday of this club from Jan 24 until Feb 1.
More details about the station can be found at:
http://www.vk2bv.org

BERMUDA, SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS
2009 will see the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the
colonization of Bermuda (NA-005). Thus the Radio Society of Bermuda has
the licence to use VP9400/XX ("XX" is as a placeholder for the OPs).
All members may append their own suffix after VP9400/. The licence is
valid till the end of 2009. All QSLs should be sent via the VP9 bureau,
Radio Society of Bermuda, Box 275 HM BX,Hamilton City,Pembroke,Bermuda.
