Get those antennas sorted and give the generator set a test run. The single station 80/40 section will be continued on for 2011 after being a success last year. Rule changes: Rule 15.2.4: the number of CW contacts per band have been reduced from 25 to 20. In recent years a number of stations have made contacts in the 20-24 range per band which I have accepted as being sufficient to be claimed by others as a valid branch point for CW. Please note that I will be strict with the 20 contact threshold. Rule 8.1: the maximum output power in the open section has been reduced from 150 back to 100 watts. By far the majority of transceivers both in JWFD use and on the market today have a 100 watt power output. This rule change is to keep the playing field level. If you are using a fancy hands free microphone don’t forget to get your microphone gain set correctly using the ALC meter and make sure your 13.8 volt DC supply does not sag at the terminals of the transceiver, we don’t want any splatter or dirty signals! Finally, it makes my job much easier if all stations that enter send in their logs and summary sheets. If your branch one of the few out for a social time and not wanting to enter officially, that’s fine, but please send in your log sheets so I can use them for checking. Have fun!
