From the Business Manager, Debby ZL2DL

Debby says.

Correction - I must apologise for placing the wrong date in the special
issue of HQ Info-line last week for Jamie Pye. He passed away on 2nd July
2011, not June as reported.

SMART

Having recently been questioned by some amateurs regarding silent key and
expired call signs, still viewable in SMART, Warren ZL2AJ my deputy ARX made
some enquiries with RSM on what the problem is.their response is below:

"RSM is working on the problem of expired amateur callsigns appearing in the
SMART database and plan to complete this work over the next few weeks."

Regards

Jeff Hicks

Speaking of SMART, I have been going through the usual annual financial
statements and removing those who have not paid their 2011 subscriptions and
I notice that one in two new amateurs, who take the offer of a free NZART
membership for one year, do not renew the following year. This may be due to
financial constraints, so please advise them that an easy monthly payment
option of $8.00 can be set up to ensure they continue to remain members.

I urge all branches to encourage these new members to re-join, both for the
sake of the Association and for all the hard work, you as branches put in,
to get them to pass their examination.

Subscriptions for 2012 out soon

The annual invoice for your 2012 subscription will be included in your
August Break In. The cost of subscriptions this year is $95 for transmitting
members and $125 for family transmitting/non-transmitting.

If you pay your subscription by the end of November 2011, your membership
number will go in a draw to win an Icom VHF Hand Held radio.

HQ Info-line material

As earlier notified, if you are a regular contributor to HQ Info-line, can
you please now forward your articles to me at ,
preferably in word format as I am not able to covert pdf files.

Jamie has done a sterling job keeping this regular media update available to
members, and as the new temporary (?) editor, I would hate to be the one who
cannot pass on all important information because I do not receive it.

That's all from me.Debby ZL2DL

Message from the President - ZL2KH

There is still a casual vacancy on NZART Council for a councillor for the
Midlands District. This vacancy will be filled at the on-air council
meeting on 2nd August.
Would any NZART member who is willing to fill this vacancy please send me
their details plus a brief CV outlining their qualities that would make them
a good councillor before 20th July. Please send the details to:

World Scout Jamboree - SJ22S

Amateur radio stations have been set up at each World Scout Jamboree since
1957. They provide live-links from the Jamboree to the home countries of the
participants over short-wave radio as well as being interesting stations for
other amateurs to contact.

From 27 July till 7 August 2011, the 22nd World Scout Jamboree at Rinkaby in

Sweden will be on the air with call sign SJ22S (Scout Jamboree No 22
Sweden). This is a special event call sign.

The station will offer an exciting radio-scouting programme including kit
building and fox hunting to the Jamboree participants.

Jim, ZL2APE, who is the NZ National Organiser for the Scout Jamborees on the
Air, will be one of the station operators

Google "SJ22S", and go first to the QRZ listing for details of frequencies
etc.

Thanks,

Jim Parnell, ZL2APE

Interview with Vaughan ZL1TGC

An interview on National Radio with Vaughan (ZL1TGC) was mentioned on the
Auckland VHF group tonight and given an excellent

review. I have a copy, but haven't listened to more than the opening
section, but I thought it would be good to mention (link to) on

the NZART web site.

FMTAG NOTES

CALL BOOK

Preparations are being made for the 2011-2012 Call Book.

Towards the end of July, FMTAG will be contacting each
repeater-beacon-link-owning Branch, asking for up-to-date details on its
equipment and repeater trustees, to ensure that the 2011-2012 Call Book is
the best ever.

Many thanks for your assistance.

will be Topo50 map reference BP32 798.83 423.94. An Engineering Evaluation,
in accordance with the MED's Radio Licence Certification Rules (PIB38),
shows that the repeater's transmit frequency can remain on 145.425 MHz and
the receive frequency can remain on 144.825 MHz, and that there will be no
interference to other stations.

Branch 66 Auckland VHF has applied for a D-STAR DV digital mode repeater at
Klondyke, Topo50 map reference BC32 602.01 641.50. The repeater's transmit
frequency will be 145.650 MHz and the receive frequency will be 145.050 MHz.
An Engineering Evaluation, in accordance with the MED's Radio Licence
Certification Rules (PIB38), shows that there will be no interference to
other stations.

FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS

application:

Branch 53 Te Puke has applied for an APRS Digipeater at Shaw Road, Topo50
map reference BE37 870.20 014.96. The transmit and receive frequency will be
144.575 MHz, in accordance with the band plan.
