In this season of giving, we've had a generous offer for matching funds up
to $1,000 for those that contribute to the Fox-1Cliff and -1D crowdsourcing
campaign between now and December 31st. Make your donation twice as
valuable by taking advantage of this opportunity and contributing before
the end of the year, and help AMSAT fund the launch of the next two
satellites in the Fox-1 series. Slated for launch in 2016 on the inaugural
spaceflight SHERPA mission aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, Fox-1Cliff and -1D
carry university experiments from Pennsylvania State-Erie, Vanderbilt,
University of Iowa, cameras provided by Virginia Tech, as well as amateur
radio voice repeaters capable of U/V or L/V operation.

You Can Troubleshoot via this Dongle:

Reid Fletcher is with the University of Wyoming broadcast engineering
department. Not long ago, he was at a new site, pointing a dish for their
Ku feed. For curiosity's sake, Reid decided to experiment with a device he
keeps with his laptop. Reid is an amateur radio operator (WB7CJO) and has
been experimenting with software-defined radio for several years. He was
introduced to SDR by a friend who is an EE professor at UW and encouraged
Reid to purchase a small digital video broadcasting-terrestrial dongle.
These DVB-T dongles are USB devices that are intended to be DVB-T, FM and
HDTV tuners but have a mode where they become essentially an A to D
converter with a local oscillator and mixer for a tunable front-end and to
output an I-Q data stream. From that point, it's up to software to do
something productive with the data.
