A Very Unique Ham Radio Gathering



QuartzFest is special in part because it comes to life each year, rising
from nothing in a remote area of the Sonoran desert in the southwestern
USA. Hundreds of Hams and their families and friends choose to unplug from
their daily lives, travel to and setup this desert community, and immerse
themselves in this week-long one-of-a-kind ham radio, camping, learning and
living...

British Scientists to be Commemorated on Amateur Radio in 2016

Throughout 2016 the Phoenix ARC and other UK clubs will commemorate the
lives and achievements of over 20 British Scientists with short pop-up
events on anniversary days and sometimes from related locations.



The programme starts on 8 January 2016 by commemorating the birthday of
Prof. Stephen Hawking, culminating on Christmas Day 2016 with Sir Isaac
Newton.



Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards will be available for 5, 10 or 15 contacts...

ISS and ARISS 2016 EVENTS !





Confirmed in 8 january 2016 at 08:47 GMT the ISS contact of Tim Peake
call GB1ISS with the students of the Sandringham School, St. Albans in
Hertfordshire (UK).



In this contact the school used the call: GB1SAN.



Tim operated on the Columbus Module (the European module)….. the signals is
not strong that the Russian module !





The contact in “live” mode by the ARISS Principia Webstream , he...
