Contest Results

Results of the IRTS 80 Metres Counties Contest held on New Year's Day
have been published; see our Contest Results page at
www.irts.ie/results for details, including section winners. Almost all
EI and GI counties were active during the contest, only Carlow and
Cavan recorded no QSOs. 51 station logs were submitted, allowing 70% of
QSOs to be cross-checked; in the subsequent adjudication process, log
data sent and received was reviewed. The Contest Manager has asked us
to remind entrants that it is important that the data sent as well as
reports received be accurately logged.

Our next contest is a one-hour 80 metres evening contest on Tuesday 9th
February at 20:00 UTC, more details in next week's bulletin.

Return of Cups and Trophies

The 2016 IRTS AGM will be held on the weekend of the 9th and 10th
April. Jim Holohan EI4HH Awards Manager, requests that the 2015 Cup and
Trophy award holders return their awards as soon as possible, this
makes it much easier for the Awards Committee to prepare them for the
new recipients. Cups and Trophies can be returned to Peter EI4HX at
QTHR or to any IRTS Committee Member. Also, anybody who intends to
enter a project for the Folan Shield (home constructed equipment)
should familiarise themselves with the rules and requirements in order
to avoid embarrassment to all parties on the day.

Tipperary Amateur Radio Group

On Tuesday 12th January 2016 last, members of the Tipperary Amateur
Radio Group met at The Park Hotel in Clonmel at 8pm for their Annual
General Meeting. The meeting was well attended with group members
travelling from County Kilkenny, County Waterford and County Cork
joining their County Tipperary based colleagues. Hugh EI2HI chaired
this very productive meeting with John EI7IG reading the minutes from
last years AGM. The group treasurer Thomas EI2IT reported a healthy
financial situation for the amateur radio group; which was formed in
October 1994.

A review of the year and the group activities was then discussed at
length. Particular praise was given to Eddie EI3FFB for reading the
weekly IRTS news every Sunday evening at 8.30pm on 145.450MHz FM and
his efforts were very much appreciated.

The new incoming committee was then elected. The venue for all group
meetings in 2016 will continue to be held at The Park Hotel, Clonmel,
County Tipperary. The meeting concluded at 11.30pm when Hugh EI2HI
thanked all for their input and efforts in attending this most
important event of the calendar year for TARG. The new committee was
elected as follows:-

Chairman; Hugh O'Donnell EI2HI Vice Chairman; Eddie Kavanagh EI3FFB
Secretary; John Ronan EI7IG Treasurer; Thomas Hallinan EI2IT Group PRO;
