Ham Radio Now
/////////////////////////////////////////// HRN 243: 3D Modeling for Amateur Radio, from the DCC Posted: 08 Feb 2016 07:58 AM PST http://HamRadioNow.tv First, there is no audio here for this program. It's a very visual presentation - so visual that I didn't think it's worth the bandwidth for the audio. It's the Sunday Seminar from the 2015 ARRL/TAPR DCC - Steve Bible N7HPR going in depth on a couple of 3D modeling programs for designing physical stuff (for amateur radio or anything), stuff that can be 3D printed or go to more elaborate fabrication. So if this interests you, you'll want to spend time with the video, either on the HamRadioNow.tv web site, or the HamRadioNow YouTube channel (it's the same video). It's a 3-Part video that totals about 3½ hours. Steve shows a lot, but it's all really introductory, though he may save you from from rabbit holes if you decide to go into it yourself. The CAD programs Steve is reviewing are from Autodesk: the free 123D Design, and the pretty expensive Autodesk Inventor. He also talks about places to go to learn this stuff in depth (like Lynda.com), and one of the DIY workshops that are appearing around the country that have the expensive tools and machinery to go beyond 3D printing (TechShop is the one he's using). |
