Veteran Ham's Final Wishes Fulfilled

Posted: 08 Dec 2017 09:32 AM PST

Around the holidays I seem to be most receptive to heart warming tales of
family, kindness, and joy. This story made me smile and I thought I would
share it with all of you. Its the story of John Nugent, WA2EQJ, whose last
wish was recently fulfilled in Chicago.

Yaesu FT-891 Review: A Sleeper of a Deal

In this article, I write about what I believe to be an incredible sleeper
deal on a truly great rig, for the price. Although not without its quirks,
depending on how you want to use it, the Yaesu FT-891 is actually a very
impressive small desktop rig for those with limited space. It can also
function as a strong portable option, provided you bring enough battery,
and maybe a voltage meter.

Comparing Elevated 1/4w Vertical vs. Link Dipole with WSPR

Posted: 07 Dec 2017 10:48 AM PST
https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...h-wspr.588386/

Hello Ham Radio Ops,

K5ACL from SignalSearch here with another Antenna comparison/testing video
using the Weak Signal Propagation Reporter (WSPR) network.

Testing out an elevated 1/4w vertical vs Link Dipole using a simultaneous
WSPR transmitter that was homebrewed by W6LVP - thanks Larry! Ill run the
test on 20 & 40m only (40m using a portion of coil on the Vert. antenna) at
500mW.

The results were a bit surprising since I chose to only use 1 radial on the
vertical. Ive done switching...
