New Year's Day Contest

A reminder that the IRTS 80 metres Counties Contest takes place on
Tuesday next from 15:00 to 17:00 UTC. There are SSB only and SSB/CW
mixed mode sections for both fixed and portable stations. Multipliers
are the 32 EI and GI counties as well as overseas DXCC entities. See
www.irts.ie/contests for the full rules which include permitted
frequency ranges.

IRTS would like to wish all amateur radio operators and SWL's a very
happy 2019. We hope that it will be a great year for all.

Next IRTS Committee Meeting

Reminder. Notice to members from Robert EI5KH Hon. Secretary IRTS.
Please note that the date of the next IRTS Committee meeting is the
19th January 2019. The venue remains as planned, Maldron Hotel
Portlaoise. This is a change from the date published in the current
edition of Echo Ireland, as the decision was taken after publication
and distribution.

The dates for the next 2 meetings are 19th January Portlaoise and 2nd
March Athlone.

Limerick Radio Club

The January meeting of the club will take place, as usual, in the
Limerick Institute of Technology, at 7:30 pm on Thursday 10th January.
All are welcome, particularly Short Wave Listeners.

LRC members are reminded that annual subs for 2019 are now due.

Along with the usual club business, Liam EI7DSB will give a talk on
Digital Modes and the rise of FT8.

The club would like to wish all a very Happy New Year.

A reminder that the club will return to normal meeting schedule on

IECRO Ireland Radio Club

IECRO wishes everyone a happy new year. The next meeting of the IECRO
Ireland Radio Club will take place on Monday 14th January 2019 in
Mullingar at 7:20pm. Anyone who would like to learn more about ham
radio and discover how they can become licensed is very welcome to
attend.

South Eastern Amateur Radio Group

The next SEARG meeting will be on Monday the 28th January 2019 in the
Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford at 8.00 p.m.
sharp. New members or anyone interested in learning more about amateur
radio or the group are as always very welcome to attend.

The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group would like to take this
opportunity to wish all their radio friends and their families in
Ireland and around the world a very happy 2019. Hopefully 2019 brings
you all good health, good wealth and plenty of new DXCC's.

DX News

Philippe F6OBD will sign FK/F6OBD until 20th February on HF using wire
antennas. New Caledonia has the IOTA reference OC-032. QSL via the
bureau to his home call.

Roland F8EN is back in Libreville, Gabon until mid-March. He will use
his TR8CR callsign on 40 - 17m on CW and SSB. QSL manager is F6AJA.

Michael OE6MBG will be in the Seychelles signing S79AA from 5th January
until 2nd February. He will be QRV on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10m
running 400w. Logs will be uploaded to Logbook of The World.

A group of French and Belgian operators will travel to Sierra Leone and
activate Banana Island from 9th - 21st January. The IOTA reference is
AF-037 and the callsign will be 9LY1JM.

Alexei RD1AV is now QRV as RI1ANV from Vostok Research Station in the
Antarctic. This callsign replaces RI1ANC which expired on Christmas
Eve. QSL manager is RN1ON.
