WABC Adds Greg Kelly, Ends John Batchelor Show & Takes Curtis Sliwa Off
During Mayoral Run

Red Apple Media Conservative Talk 770 WABC New York has announced the
addition of Newsmax host Greg Kelly to host a 1-3pm show.

Kelly takes the majority of the timeslot that had been held by Curtis
Sliwa. Sliwa has been removed from the WABC lineup as he is currently a
candidate for mayor of New York and a complaint was filed with the city
Campaign Finance Board as an illegal “in-kind” donation from 77 WABC Radio
to Sliwas campaign. Dominic Carter is currently hosting the 12:15-1pm
timeslot that had also been part of Sliwas show.

The son of former New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and a veteran
of the United States Marine Corps, Kelly currently hosts Greg Kelly Reports
nightly on Newsmax but is best known in the market as host of Good Day New
York on WNYW-TV from 2008-2012 and again from 2013-2017. In between he
served as 6 and 10pm news anchor at WNYW. He has also served as a reporter
for NY1 and Fox News.

While Greg Kelly is incoming, syndicated talker John Batchelor will be
leaving. Batchelor, whose Westwood One show is based at WABC, did his final
show last Friday. Affiliates were notified that the show will end
distribution at the end of the month with best-of programming until then.

John Catsimatidis, CEO of Red Apple Group, and subsidiaries Red Apple Media
and 77 WABC Radio, has announced that Greg Kelly has joined the station’s
daytime lineup beginning March 9th from the 1-3 p.m.

Kelly is an experienced broadcaster and a veteran of the United States
Marine Corps. After serving on active-duty with the United States Marine
Corp as an officer and attack pilot, he began a career in broadcasting.
Kelly went on to cover the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 for NY1, to
co-Host for Good Day New York on Fox 5 News, and to serve as White House
Correspondent and War Correspondent for FOX News Channel. He currently
anchors a prime-time show on Newsmax TV, Greg Kelly Reports.

Kelly’s program will feature the latest breaking news and opinion, and
expert perspective on current events from inside the beltway and
coast-to-coast.

The following statement has been released by John Catsimatidis, CEO of Red
Apple Group and subsidiaries, Red Apple Media and 77 WABC Radio:

“Greg Kelly is a broadcast veteran with a tremendous portfolio of
experience in media. He is dynamic on the air, entertaining, and will
bring listeners what they want to hear in a style that is uniquely
his-own. Greg Kelly is a terrific addition to our daytime radio
programming and will bring along with him a loyal audience who appreciates
his perspective on the political current events. We are happy to have him
aboard,” said John Catsimatidis.

The following statement was released by Greg Kelly:

“I am completely honored to be joining the team at WABC. John Catsimatidis
is a New York legend. It’s a crazy time in America with the woke left out
to cancel and censor those who dare to disagree with them or see things
from a pro-Trump or conservative perspective. Well, they’ve met their match
in this Marine. We’re not afraid to stand up to the mob. On this show we
won’t back down or be afraid to take a stand. At the same time, we’ll
always aim to entertain. Let’s talk. Weekdays 1-3,” said Greg Kelly.

FCC Designates WSYL For License Renewal Hearing

Posted: 09 Mar 2021 08:27 AM PST
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/2...newal-hearing/

NIA Broadcastings 1490 WSYL Sylvania GA has been designated for a license
renewal hearing due to its record of extended periods of silence since NIA
became the licensee in 2018.

Neal Ardman’s company purchased WSYL from Georgia Eagle Media in July 2017
for $20,000 with the deal closing on January 22, 2018. Since that time the
FCC notes that from the day of closing through the end of 2020 the station
was Silent or operating at unauthorized parameters for 73 percent of the
time. That includes 270 days in 2019 where the station was running at 500
watts as opposed to its licensed 1kW without an STA to do so. The agency
notes that in order to receive credit for operating at its licensed
parameters it must show proof that WSYL operated in accordance with its
authorization.

A $20,000 sale of WSYL and its translator 103.3 W277DI Sylvania to John
Golobish Jr.’s Jetstream Media was filed in November. The FCC has yet to
act on that application.

Elyse returns to the company after serving as Assistant Promotions Director

“The Mark Nolan Show,” a newly created Cleveland-centric morning show, will
feature broadcasting veteran Mark Nolan playing music from the 70s and 80s,
discussing current events and championing for the city we all call home.
Joining Nolan on the show are two additional native Clevelanders, Emmy

Krystle Elyse.

Nolan has more than 25 years of broadcast experience, including nearly 20
years as a television meteorologist and anchor. He has been a part of the

local television stations WKYC and WOIO. Throughout his career, Nolan has
received seals of approval from both The American Meteorological Society

Mark Nolan,” said Keith Hotchkiss, President of iHeartMedia Cleveland.
“Mark embodies the spirit of our community and is a proponent for all
things Cleveland. We’re thrilled to launch ‘The Mark Nolan Show’ and are
excited to have found both Jen and Krystle as contributors.”

“I’m thrilled to launch this new show on a station that means so much to

an incredible honor. I look forward to informing and entertaining the city
I love for years to come.”
