As gekyk word na die stemmery vir die 2021 AJV Mosies, word dit betwyfel
of die nodige 15% merk bereik gaan word om Mosie 7. Bykomende Lidmaatskap
Kategorie: Gesin lidmaatskap en Mosie 2021-07. Om die kriteria te hersien
om vas te stel watter lede mag registreer en stem op vergaderings wat deu
r die SARL belê word goed te keur. Ten tye van die opname van hierdie
bulletin was die stem presentasie 9%.

Die stemmery vir die 2021 AJV-mosies het om 00:01 SAT gister Saterdag 24 A
pril 2021 geopen en sal om 23:59 SAT op Maandag 3 Mei 2021 sluit. Gaan na

om jou stem uit te bring. Jy moet op die kassie klik "I confirm that I ha

Die doel van die ADV Buis QSO partytjie is om aktiwiteite op die 40 en 80
meter-bande te skep. Dit is slegs 'n foon kompetisie wat AM en ESB gebrui
k. Buis radios of radios met buise daarin moet verkieslik gebruik word. Ge
en lineêre versterkers mag gebruik word nie. Die ESB QSO Partytjie va
n 13:00 tot 17:00 UTC (15:00 tot 19:00 SAT ) vanmiddag Sondag 2 Mei. Aktiw
iteit is op 40 meter: 7 063 tot 7 100 kHz en 7 130 tot 7 200 kHz en 80 met
er: 3 603 tot 3 650 kHz. Die om ruiling is jou roepsein, 'n RS-verslag

HF-ASSESSERING VIR DIE MEI-RAE

Die Mei RAE sal op Saterdag 22 Mei geskryf word en die kandidate moet die
HF-assessering voltooi voordat hulle die eksamen aflê. Luister asseb
lief uit vir Klubs wat die assessering uitvoer en gee die kandidate die ve
reiste QSOs wat hulle benodig. Saterdag en Sondae is die beste tyd vir hie
rdie assesserings.

OM AAN DIE WAZS 5 MHZ-UITDAGING TE NEEM

Die sluitingsdatum vir die 5 MHz Werk Alle ZS uitdaging is verleng tot 31
Julie 2021. Dit sal radio amateurs die geleentheid bied om gebruik te maa
k van die winterseisoen-voortplanting op 5 MHz. Tot op hede is 3 aansoeke
verwerk.

Die SARL daag radio amateurs uit om die 60 meterband te gebruik en die SAR
L Werk Alle ZS toekenning behaal. Die Werk Alle ZS-reeks toekennings is be
skikbaar vir alle radio amateurs en kortgolfluisteraars. Aansoekers moet t
weerigting kontakte (of SWL-verslae) met minstens 100 Suid-Afrikaanse roep
seine bewys. Die WAZS-toekenning van 60 m sal 'n spesiale "gewerk op 5 MHz
" endossement dra. Die roepseine moet die verskillende roep gebiede volgen
s die WAZS-reëls soos volg voorstel: ZS1 16 kontakte; ZS2 8 kontakte;
ZS3 1 kontak; ZS4 6 kontakte; ZS5 13 kontakte en ZS6 56 kontakte.

Radio amateurs word aangemoedig om werklike seinverslae te lewer, aanges
ien die data verwerk word en deel sal uitmaak van die propagasie op die 60
meterband. Elke aansoek moet die datum, tyd, frekwensie, krag wat g
ebruik word, beide roepseine en die gegee en ontvang akkurate seinversla
e toon. Alle aansoeke vir die spesiale 60 meter Werk Alle ZS-toekenning wa
t teen die verlengde datum van 31 Julie 2021 ontvang is, sal deelneem aa

"ONTSLUITING VAN AMATEUR RUIMTE TEGNOLOGIE" OPROEP VIR REFERATTE

In die lig van die voortdurende onsekerheid oor die Covid-19-pandemie, s
al die AMSAT SA jaarlikse Ruimtesimposium 'n virtuele gebeurtenis op die B
lueJeans-platform wees. Die datum is Saterdag 10 Julie 2021 en dit begin o
m 08:00 UTC. Die tema van die simposium is "Ontsluiting van Amateu
r Ruimte Tegnologie." Die simposium sal fokus op amateur-satelliet
e, swak sein kommunikasie, ruimte weer en verwante wetenskappe.

Dit is die eerste oproep vir voorstelle vir referate. Voornemende outeurs
word uitgenooi om voorstelle in te dien in die vorm van 'n kort beskrywin
g van die onderwerp wat in hul referaat behandel moet word, nie later ni
e as 15 Mei 2021. Dien voorstelle in MS Word formaat in by
rg.za. Skrywers word op 20 Mei in kennis gestel van die aanvaarding van hu
l referaat. Die finale referate sal teen 30 Junie 2021 benodig word.

KLUB NUUS

Soos berig in SARL Nuus van 4 April, is die Hibiskus Kus ARK besig met d
ie oprigting van 'n spraak herhaler op 'n hoë punt naby Paddock op di
e frekwensie van 145,7375 MHz. Die voorbereidende werk is voltooi en daa
r word gehoop om, sodra die reëns ons kans gee, die oprigting daa
rvan te voltooi oor die komende naweke.

HF VOORTPLANTINGSVOORSPELLING

Hannes Coetzee, ZS6BZP, berig dat die verwagte sonaktiwiteitsvlak laag
gaan wees. Tans is daar drie sonvlekke met eenvoudige magnetiese samestel
lings sigbaar. Daar word nie enige sonfakkel aktiwiteit verwag nie. Diegen
e wat hulle eie frekwensievoorspellings wil doen, kan 'n verwagte effekt
iewe sonvlektelling van een vir die week gebruik. Radio amateurs kan veral
laatmiddag goeie DX openinge op die 12 tot 30 m bande verwag. Besoek geru

Looking at the rate of voting for the 2021 AGM Motions, it is doubted if
the required 15% is going to be reached to approve Motion 7: Additional M
embership Category: Family Membership; and Motion 8: To review the criteri
a for determining which members may register and vote at meetings convened
by the SARL. At the time of recording this bulletin, the voting percent
age was 9%.

The voting for the 2021 AGM Motions opened at 00:01 CAT on Saturday 24 Apr
il 2021 and will close at 23:59 CAT on Monday 3 May 2021. Go to the public
voting page http://www.sarl.org.za/Web3/Electron...g/Default.aspx to cast yo
ur vote. You need to click on the box "I confirm that I have read and full
y understand the Motions listed above." Then sign in with your call sign a
nd password. The voting options for each motion are "Yes" or "No" or "Abst

ANTIQUE WIRELESS ASSOCIATION VALVE SSB QSO PARTY TODAY

The aim of the AWA Valve QSO party is to create activity on the 40 and 80
metre bands. It is a phone only contest using AM and SSB. Preferably, v
alve radios or radios with valves in them may be used. No linear amplifier
s may be used. The SSB QSO Party takes place from 13:00 to 17:00 UTC (15:0
0 to 19:00 CAT) this afternoon, Sunday 2 May. Activity is on 40 metres:
7 063 kHz to 7 100 kHz and 7 130 kHz to 7 200 kHz and 80 metres: 3 603 kH
z to 3 650 kHz. The exchange is your call sign, a RS report, a consecu
tive serial number starting at 001 and the type of radio used, for examp
le, HT37 TX. The log sheets must be submitted by Friday 7 May 2021 to an
) .

THE SARL ADDRESSES TYPE APPROVAL ISSUES.

Last week the SARL facilitated a virtual meeting to receive input for the
SARL response to ICASA on the draft Equipment Authorisation Regulations
, colloquially referred to as the Type Approval Regulations. The final c
omment date is mid-May. Participants were asked to submit their responses
in writing to ) by Monday
3 May. The SARL will develop a draft document based on the input and disc
ussions to date. A further meeting will be held on the BlueJeans platform
on Thursday 6 May at 20:00 to review the draft and receive more input. To

HF ASSESSMENT FOR THE MAY RAE

The May RAE will be written on Saturday 22 May and the candidates need to
complete the HF Assessment before taking the exam. Please listen out for
Clubs running the assessments and give the candidates the required QSOs t
hey need. Saturday and Sundays are the best time for these assessments.

MORE TIME TO TAKE PART IN THE WAZS 5 MHZ CHALLENGE

The closing date for the 5 MHz Worked All ZS challenge has been extended t
o 31 July 2021. This will give radio amateurs an opportunity to take advan
tage of the winter season propagation on 5 MHz. To date 3 applications hav
e been processed.

The SARL is challenging radio amateurs to use the 60 metre band and work t
owards the SARL Worked All ZS award. The Worked All ZS series of awards ar
e available to all radio amateurs and short-wave listeners. Applicants mus
t prove two-way contacts (or SWL reports) with at least 100 South African
call signs. The 60 m WAZS award will carry a special "worked on 5 MHZ" en
dorsement. The call signs must represent the different call areas as per t
he WAZS rules as follows: ZS1 16 contacts; ZS2 8 contacts; ZS3 1 contact;
ZS4 6 contacts; ZS5 13 contacts and ZS6 56 contacts.

Radio Amateurs are encouraged to give genuine signal reports as the data w
ill be processed and will make part of a study of propagation of the 60-me
tre band. Each application must show the date, time, frequency, powe
r used, both call signs, and the given and received accurate signal re
ports. All applications for the special 60 Metre Worked All ZS award recei
ved by the extended date of 31 July 2021 will participate in the draw for

"UNLOCKING AMATEUR SPACE TECHNOLOGY" CALL FOR PAPERS

In view of the continuing uncertainty about the Covid-19 pandemic, the A
MSAT SA annual space symposium will be a virtual event on the BlueJeans pl
atform. The date is Saturday 10 July 2021 starting at 08:00 UTC. The theme
of the symposium is "Unlocking Amateur Space Technology". The symposium w
ill focus on amateur satellites, weak signal communication, space weat
her and allied sciences.

This is the first call for papers proposals. Prospective authors are invit
ed to submit proposals in the form of a brief description of the subject t
o be covered in their paper by not later than 15 May 2021. Submit proposal
s in word format to ) . A
uthors will be advised on 20 May of the acceptance of their paper. The fin
al paper will be required by 30 June 2021.

CLUB NEWS

It was mentioned in the SARL News of 4th April, that the Hibiscus Coast
ARC is busy with the erection of a voice repeater on the frequency of 145
,7375 MHz. The preparatory work is now complete, and they hope to comp
lete the commissioning of it, as soon as the rains allow them to, duri
ng the next few weekends.

PROPAGATION REPORT

Hannes Coetzee, ZS6BZP, reports that the solar activity is expected to
be at low levels. There are currently three sunspot regions with simple m
agnetic configurations visible. No solar flaring activity is expected. If
you want to do your own frequency predictions, the expected effective s
unspot number for the week will be around one. The 12 to 30 m bands may,
especially during the late afternoons, provide some good DX fun. Please
