THE NODXA "Radio For Apollo" PROJECT UPDATE (by Editor Tedd, KB8NW).
Let me first say "HOW I AM IMPRESSED" with the DX community. Ten minutes
after last week's bulletin was released, pledges were coming in quickly.
In 24 hours, close to 1000 USD were pledged with three associations stating
they would contribute something. Some individuals also stated they would
donate more, if needed. The members of NODXA say "THANK YOU". However,
the NODXA project is now on hold. Something is in the works and currently
can not be publicized just yet. Details are forthcoming. Monk Apollo is
aware of the ham community's efforts to help put him back on the air. He
is also very grateful and prays for the ham community. Please stay tuned
for updates. Once again, I thank the DX community.....

QSL INFO AND NEWS.......................
4U1UN QSLS. Your editor saw Jerry, WB8LFO, over the past weekend and
asked him about the QSL cards and logs for 4U1UN. Jerry told your
editor he is in the process of moving to Flordia and that "ALL" logs
(1986-1996) have been returned to the UN. All QSL requests for those
years should be QSLed via the following address. DO NOT send QSL cards
to WB8LFO, only to: Box 3873, Grand Central Station New York,
NY 10163 USA.

Patrick, WD9EWK, informs OPDX that he is the QSL Manager for several
stations, in addition to activity with his own personal callsigns WD9EWK
and VA7EWK. Here is a current list of the stations who have WD9EWK for
their QSL route:
4A2Q (3-4 May 2003 only), AY8XW (2002 only), KG6OJZ, L20E (say
"Lima-Two-Zero-Echo"), LU3XQ, LU5ER, LU5EVK, LU5XPZ, LU6XQ, LU7JA,
LU9XT, W9K (August 2002 only), XE2BOA, XE2BSS, XE2TG, XE2TPJ, and

Patrick has received the 4A2Q QSL cards from the printer over the
past weekend and mailed out the first batch of those cards - going to
hams in the USA and Mexico, July 14th. The cards are the folding type,
similar to those used on other DXpeditions in the recent past. More
4A2Q cards, going to XE hams, will be mailed from a Mexican post office
on July 18th. Those who sent a card for 4A2Q without an SASE or something
for paying the return postage will get a card shortly, now that he has
some spare "green stamps". There is more information about 4A2Q on the
Web page at: http://www.qsl.net/4a2q/
Marco XE2TG, of Hermosillo in the Mexican state of Sonora (south of the
US state of Arizona, or for grid hunters DL49), has accepted Patrick's
offer to be his QSL Manager. Marco enjoys CW, and especially enjoys
operating on 6m and 160m. He was one of the operators at 4A2Q, doing
CW from there. Patrick has his 2003 logs through last week, and he will
receive updates from him regularly. If you need a QSO confirmed from
previous years - or even with his previous callsign, XE2TSG - he can
do that as well. Patrick can receive cards through the QSL bureau system,
or directly at (the same address as on QRZ.com, Buckmaster, and the FCC
database): Patrick Stoddard, 6938 W. Palo Verde Drive, Glendale, AZ
85303-4405 USA. He maintains a Web page with his QSL Manager information
at: http://www.qsl.net/wd9ewk/qsl-mgr.html

and will operate most bands and modes. QSL VP2MDO and VP2MHX via their
home callsigns and VP2MWB via N2OO only. Please send SASE if you want

featured! CQ Hall of Fame Inductee and "Mr. W0DXCC 2002" Glenn Johnson,
W0GJ, will speak on his experiences with four-square antennas and will
offer us the latest news from Bhutan, and Ralph Fedor, K0IR, will present
a seminar on his DXpeditions to various rare and very rare Antarctic DX
Entities. Radio City, Mounds View, will present a fascinating demo comparing
today's top radios and Timewave Technology will demonstrate the art of
digital signal processing technology. Other outstanding speakers already
booked for the Convention include K9LA, Carl Leutzelschwab with an
intriguing talk on the challenges of W0-land propagation and W0IZ, Igor
Zdorov, with a presentation on his DXpedition exploits to rare African
and Asian DX Entities. "We are adding more great speakers and will be
releasing the information shortly", Chairman Lou Sica, AC0X, reports. The
Convention will conclude with a 7PM Banquet at the Holiday Inn with a
Keynote Speaker. Details for the Convention can be requested by E-mailing
or sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

XU, CAMBODIA (An IOTA and possibly XW!). Jaak, ES1FB, reports he will
go to Shianoukville, Cambodia, from October 19-28th. His callsign will be
XU7ACE, and he plans to be active in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest as a Single-
Op/All Band entry. He also plans to be active as XU7ACV from Koh Poah Island
(IOTA AS-133), October 21-23rd. Plans also include a trip to Vientienne,
Laos, October 30th through November 4th. Possible callsign is XW1FB (?).
QSL all operations to his home callsign ES1FB. For updates and a log
search, visit the Web page at: http://www.hot.ee/xu7ace www.hot.ee/xu7ace

XZ, MYANMAR. Sigi, DL7DF, reports, "We actually had a special target in
Africa for our 2003 DXpedition, however we ran into trouble getting the
license. But we will go to another country instead - Myanmar, XZ. Myanmar
is not amongst the top 10 of the most needed DXCC entities anymore but we
hope for a success anyway." Operators DL7BO, DL7UFR, DL7DF, DL7KL, DJ6TF,
DK1BT, DL4WK and plus two of their XYLs are planning to be active as XZ7A
between September 30th and October 17th. They will have four stations active
from two different operating places. One of the places is in the capitol,
the other one in a sea village. The location in the capitol is very
promising because they will be using a roof on a 25m high building. Their
planned activity will be on 160-6 meters, CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV.
They will have two linears, beams, a Titanex V80 vertical, a R7 plus a 6m
yagi. On this operation they will be emphasizing the low bands because the
last activity was in 1998 and 2000. Pilots will once again be Bernd/DF3CB
and Floyd/N5FG. Updated news, online logs and pictures, will be available
during the DXpedition at: http://www.qsl.net/dl7df/

YJ, VANUATU (Update to OPDX.617). Trent, VK4TI, informs OPDX that the
team who will be active as YJ0X in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest,
intends to be in YJ8-land roughly 4 days prior and two days after the
contest. They intend to leave the antenna at the site for future operators.
He also mentions Les, VK3WA, is an excellent CW op, and they have had
requests for RTTY. Their main focus was for the CQWW Contest as well
as sightseeing. However, it does look like Vanuatu is a bit more needed
than they thought by judging by the E-mails received here since the
posting of their operation. QSL via VK4TI, using the QRZ.com address.
