* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or
more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later" (WFWL).

3B8, MAURITIUS. Five JA2 stations (JA2AAU, JA2AIC, JA2ATE, JR2FOR and
JJ2KTY) are currently active as 3B8/homecall between now and October 13th.
They will operate from different QTHs, so they may operate two stations
on same band/mode at the same time. Activity will be on 80-10 meters,
SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via their home callsign.

4X, ISRAEL. Operators Burt/W3GG, Mark/WD3I and Dov/4Z4DX will be active
as 4X0G during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a Mutli-Single
entry. QSL via W3GG.

5R, MADAGASCAR (IOTA Op). Giovanni, I5JHW, will be active from Nosy Be
Island (AF-057) now through October 19th, as 5R8HH. Activity will be on
40-10 meters SSB/RTTY. Over the past weekend he was very active on 15/10
meters SSB. Watch 21260 and 28495 kHz between 1100-1700z. QSL via his
home callsign.

6Y & ZF, JAMAICA AND CAYMAN ISLAND. Kan, AB2RF, will be active from two
Caribbean Islands this winter. Activity will be focused on the low bands
and the digital modes. Look for him to be active as ZF2CJ from December
28th to January 1st and from Jamaica as 6Y5/AB2RF, January 2-4th. QSL

9M2, WEST MALAYSIA (Update). Champ, E21EIC, will be active as 9M2/E21EIC
for the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) on all bands. He informs
OPDX that he will be there for one week, and his activity outside of the
contest (before and after) will also be on the WARC bands. QSL via E21EIC.

ANTARCTICA NEWS..................
3rd Antarctic Activity Week (AAW). The "Worldwide Antarctic Program"
(WAP) has announced that the 3rd AAW will be held February 20-26th,
2006. The AAW is a way to highlight worldwide interest in the
Antarctica as a land of study, research and peace, with its main
objective as knowing more about the icy Continent, as well as to
share and promote initiatives among Hams, Antarctic hunters, World-
Wide Antarctic enthusiasts and supporters. Visit the WAP Web page at:

Bhagwati, VU3BPZ, continues to be very active from the Indian Maitri
Base (WAP IND-03), Antarctica, for the XXIV IAE (Indian Antarctic
Expedition). He is generally around (+/- QRM) 21275 kHz after 1400z
and 14280 kHz between 1700-2000z. Bhagwati is the Communication Officer
at the Base and is there during their winter with a team of 25 people.
They will stay at Maitri until the end of March 2006. QSL manager is
VU3MKE. Please notice that the address on QRZ.com is incorrect. The

Personal and researchers are ready to leave October 19th to participate
in the XXI Italian Antarctic Expedition. They will be heading to the
Italian base "Mario Zucchelli Station" (MZS) at Terra Nova Bay (near
the U.S. McMurdo Base) in the Antarctica. Activity is expected again
to begin in November and last through February 2006. The scheduled
frequency is 14280 kHz (+/- QRM). More information is to follow and
will be available on the WAP Web site listed above.

D4, CAPE VERDE. Alberto, IV3TAN, will be active as D44TD during the CQ
WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band entry.
His band entry will be decided the day before the contest (possbily
15 or 20 meters). QSL via CT1EKF.

EX, KYRGYSTAN. Operators Jaak/ES1FB and Oleg/ES1RA will be active from
Bishkek and Maili Suu, starting November 1st for 2 weeks. They will sign
EX/homecall. QSL via their home callsign. Look for EX/ES1FB to be on LoTW.

HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Hiro, JA6WFM/HI8, continues to be active but will
go QRT October 26th and return home. Watch 40/20 meters CW/RTTY. QSL via
JA6VU.

IOTA NEWS....................
EU-114. Remember to look for five members of the Purple Mug Team DX
Group (PMTDXG) to activate the Island of Alderney, the most
northernly island of the Channel Islands group, between
Wednesday, October 12th, to Wednesday, October 19th. Activity
will be on all HF bands, 6 meters, VHF APRS, VHF/UHF, SSB, and
hopefully, some satellite activity. The team Members announced
a Carol/2E1DQZ, Russell/G5XW, Tim/M3SDE, Dave/G1OCN and
Anthony/MW0JZE. Callsigns and QSL route(s) a GU5XW via G5XW,
GU1OCN via G5XW, MW0JZE via G5XW and MU3SDE via M3SDE. For more

NA-058. (Update) Tad, WF4W, informs OPDX that "all systems are go" for
the trip to Jekyll Island at the end of the month. He will be
there from October 26th through November 2nd. He states, "I
should be set up and running on Wednesday, October 26th, by
7 or 8 p.m. I'd say tentatively, to look for me that evening
from around 8 p.m. on 14.260, 18.128 and/or 7.230 (that is high
enough that Generals can work me)." Tad plans to be fairly
active on those frequencies (as well as the other IOTA SSB and
CW frequencies) on Wednesday night, Thursday on and off all
day/evening and Friday leading up to the CQWW SSB Contest.
During the contest Tad states that he will probably be doing
a mixture of calling CQ and hunting/pouncing. After the contest
ends Sunday evening, Tad states that he will probably crash but
will get back on the air on the same frequencies Monday and
Tuesday. He will tear down Wednesday, November 2nd and head
back home. Also, if anyone wants to set up a sked with him,
outside of the contest, he suggests to E-mail him ahead of time
at the following addresses:

Tad will do what he can to accommodate any requests. QSL via
his home callsign, direct or via the Bureau.

SA-NEW. (Update) A group operators from Argentina who were expected to
activate Isla Escondida in the Chubut Province North Group, has
reportedly decided to postpone the DXpedition date because
written official permission did not arrive. They didn’t want
to operate without this paper in their hands. They are still
hoping that the Marine Authority will give them permission.

J48/SV8, GREECE (IOTA Op). A Hungarian team will be active using J48
and SV8/homecall callsigns from Astris (KN20in), Thassos Island (EU-174),
between October 28th and November 8th. They will operate on 80-10 meters,
CW, SSB, BPSK31 and RTTY, using monoband dipoles, ground planes and a 3
element tribander Yagi. The callsigns to be used a
J48RT - November 1-7th, 80m CW only in the HA-QRP Contest. QSL via HA6KNX.
J48NL - October 29-30th in the CQ-WW-DX SSB Contest. QSL via HA6NL.
J48PL - October 29-30th in the CQ-WW-DX SSB Contest. QSL via HA7PL.
J48JJ - November 5-6th in the Ukrainian DX Contest. QSL via HA7JJS.
J48PS - November 5-6th in the Ukrainian DX Contest. QSL via HA6PS.
They will also try to do something on 2 meters with 100W and an 11 element
Flexa Yagi, and will take part in VHF (144MHz CW Marconi) Contest during
November 5-6th. Outside of contest, operators will use their SV8/homecall
callsigns. QSL via the HA QSL Bureau or direct to the operator's own
address (via QRZ.com).

K7C QRT (KURE DXPEDITION). The K7C DXpedition went QRT around at 1000z on
October 5th. They made 52,113 QSOs with activity on 160-10 meters. QSOs
per mode: CW - 27917, SSB -22334 and RTTY 1862. A preliminary summary is

KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY. Noll, W9RN, will be active as KG4RN between October
24-31st. His activity will include the CQWW DX SSB Contest as a Single-OP/
Single-Band (40m) entry. Outside of the contest he will be active on
160-6 meters, including the WARC bands, on CW/SSB. QSL via his home
callsign.

KG4, GUANTANAMO BAY (Cancellation/Rescheduled). Operator Jose, N4BAA/KG4SB,
reports that his trip to KG4 land for this month has been cancelled.
Navy duties have him deploying to other parts of the world for the same
period. He will, however, be active from Gitmo Cuba in January 2006 on
all bands and modes.

KH2, GUAM. Look for two members of the Himeji DX Club from Japan to be
active November 25-28th. Operators Tada/JA3PPH and Yoshi/JA3EGZ will
sign KH2/JA3PPH and KH2/JA3EGZ, and they plan to make over 3000 QSOs.
Activity will be mainly on 40-15 meters SSB, but they will also be on
160 meters with a 500W amplifier for the low band DXers. Also, KH2/JA3EGZ
will be in the CQWW DX CW Contest as a Single-Op/All-Band Oceania entry,
and he hopes to win. QSL both callsigns via JA3EGZ: Yoshikazu Mega,
P.O. Box 6, Himeji, 670-8691 JAPAN.

KH6 BEACON UPGRADED. On Friday, October 7th, at approximately 2100z, the
KH6WO Beacon located at BYU Laie, Oahu, Hawaii, was upgraded adding the
WARC frequencies 18.110 and 24.930 MHz to its transmitting beacon.
The KH6WO trustee, John Peters, K1ER/KH6, KH6BZF and K7IHI assisted in
re-programming the Northern California DX Foundation controller, driving
a TS-50 transmitter adding these WARC frequencies to the existing beacon
frequencies of 14.110, 21.150 and 28.200 MHz in Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) compliance. Both Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D) Hawaii
and Mr. Bill Cross, FCC Staffer at Washington, DC, were helpful in
obtaining this FCC waiver to accomplish this upgrade. The Honolulu
Amateur Radio Club (Oldest Amateur Radio Club in the islands) is the
owner of KH6WO and maintains this beacon. Reception reports are encouraged
and may be sent to trustee John Peters, K1ER/KH6. These WARC frequencies
will assist other Amateurs world wide as to when these bands are open to
Hawaii.

PJ4, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES. Operators OE2VEL, OE2GEN, OE9MON and DK1MM
will be active from Bonaire Island between October 25th and November 1st.
The Austrian and German team will be active in the CQWW SSB DX Contest
as PJ4W and as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via DK1MM (direct or by the
bureau). Outside the contest they will be active as PJ4/homecall. QSL
via their home callsigns.

QSL INFO AND NEWS.......................
ATTENTION FUTURE QSL MANAGERS! Paolo, IK3QAR, informs OPDX that he
has created on his Web site a new section called "Manager Offered -
Where DX meet Managers" in which any individual who wishes to become
a QSL Manager or is willing to take more QSL duties for a DX station
in need, can leave a message where to be contacted through the Web

TOP 5 QSL MANAGER SURVEY (Next Month). John, K1XN, has sent out an
early reminder to get you thinking about his annual "Top 5 QSL Manager
Survey" that he conducts. This survey will start in the month of November
and end in January of 2006. Results will be published in February of
2006. John states, "Again this year we will award the TOP 5 Managers
from all the nominees a wall plaque or a date plate to previous winners.
These plaques were really appreciated by those who received them last
year. Donations from all DXers in any amount will be accepted to offset
the cost of these plaque awards. PayPal will be the method of choice,
but more info on that in the November news release. Please be thinking
of the 5 managers that gave you outstanding service this year (2005).
Remember, this is not a popularity survey but a performance survey."

A4/G0RTN QSL STATUS. Gerry, G0RTN, expects to have all direct QSLs in
the mail this week. As for bureau QSLs, Gerry states that he hasn't
had a bureau delivery for over a year, and he is starting to get worried
... but he should be able to turn them around pretty quickly when they
finally arrive.

CY9SS QSL STATUS. Robby, VY2SS, states (as of Sunday, October 9th):
"The CY9SS QSL cards have not arrived yet from the European printer.
They should be here shortly."

Toni, EA5RM, informs OPDX that the CW5R (SA-039) 2005 log has been
uploaded to the LoTW.

GB0SM ONLINE LOG AVAILABLE. Tom, G0PSE, informs OPDX that thanks to the
kind efforts of Doug/N6RT, the online log for GB0SM (IOTA EU-011) has
been updated to include the 2005 DXpedition and is now available for

Albert, K8SIX, President SEMDXA, reports, "If you worked S79RRC/A or
S79RRC/F and are in the U.S. or Canada hold off on QSLing direct as
Eugene asked me today if we can do the same arrangement as R0K. This
is not cast in stone yet so please be patient. As soon as he returns
we will discuss this further, but it appears as though myself, K8SIX,
and Russ, VE6VK will be a drop point. We will collect the SASEs and
any donations and forward the donations to him along with the list of
those requesting a QSL. Once he sends a package of cards we will in
turn forward them to you. So please hang tight, and Russ or I will make
the announcement soon."

Darrell, AB2E, reports that all 18000 QSOs for V26E (1993-1999), and
4000 QSOs for EI/AB2E (2004-2005) have been uploaded to LoTW. All bureau
and direct cards via AB2E will still be answered.

Cards received direct with a SAE and 1 USD/IRC will be answered directly

RMA AWARD. The Russian Mountains Award (RMA) Web page is now available

SPECIAL EVENT. The official opening of the "South African Large Telescope",
situated near Sutherland, will take place on November 10th. The Boland
Amateur Radio Club will run a special event station with the callsign
ZS1SALT from the SALT site. For security reasons, the station can only
be operated on the time slot October 21-23rd. Activity will be on all
HF bands. QSL cards can be sent direct, with the necessary return postage,
to: ZS1SALT, PO Box 273, Strand, 7139, Republic of South Africa. Only
direct QSLs with the required return postage will be answered. South
African amateurs can make use of the electronic QSL service of the SARL

(2006), to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Nishinomiya City. QSL

Look for special event station 8J8K to be active to celebrate the

SX5, DODECANESE. Operators SV5FRD, SV5AZP, SV5FRB and SV5DDP will be
active as SX5R in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Multi-2

V6, MICRONESIA. Shoji, JA7HMZ (V63DX), will once again visit Pohnpei and
be active as V6A between November 14-19th. Activity will be on all bands
and modes. However, he plans to focus on 160m and RTTY this time. QSL
via JA7AO.

XX9, MACAO. Misao/JJ1DWB and Hide/JM1LJS will be active during a short
trip here starting around 0400z on November 4th until 1900z on November
5th. Operators will use a TS-570SG (100W output)and a non radial vertical
antenna on 80-6 meters. Callsigns have not been issued yet, but operators
will have their own callsign. QSL direct only via their home callsign.
