more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later" (WFWL).

AH2, GUAM. Members of the Guam Contest Club will be on the air as AH2R
during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Multi-Op/Single-TX
entry. QSL via JH7QXJ, direct (see QRZ.com) or the JA bureau ("NOT" the
KH2 bureau). The team states that they have set a target as the Oceanic
leader in Multi-OP sigle-TX category and World Top 5. Also, they are trying
to build an Oceanic record in this category. They will operate on 40 meters
on 7075-7100kHz because of the band plan limitation. Please listen carefully
on these frequencies. Their Sunrise/Sunset a 2014/0755z. Operators
mentioned a Aki/JI3ERV/NH2C, Kou/JH7QXJ, Masaki/JO1DFG/KH2XC, and
Nozomu/JE8KKX/AH2K.

ANTARCTIC NEWS................
The XXI Italian Antarctic Scientific Expedition is ready to start
this week. The Italians will began the Antarctic 2005-2006 season
on October 18th. This is when the first group of Specialists and
Logistics will leave to Terra Nova Bay, Antartica, to open the Italian
"Mario Zucchelli Station" (MZS). The Communication Officer at MZS is
Carlo, IK5DHM, Chief of Firemen for the entire period from October
22nd to the end of February 2006. He has received a brand new callsign,
II0AMZS (Italy Italy Zero Antarctic Mario Zucchelli Station). He will
operate from the Italian Base (WAP ITA-01) using this callsign and
will also alternate using the IK5DHM/ANT callsign. QSL Manager is
Paolo, I5GWO. During his stay, Carlo will try to activate a couple of
remote camps such as "Mid Point" and "Tolos Dome" which will have WAP
references after they are activated (dates are not set). Carlo will also
try to operate for a couple of days from Concordia Dome C ( WAP MNB-03).

AROUND THE WORLD TOUR. Two guys around their 60's plan to take about a
60 days trip around the world and operate. Look for operators Seppo/OH1VR
and Juhani/OH3SR to activate the following locations during their "World
Tour" (Schedule is as follows):
CU2 - Azores Islands, October 24-31st. Look for Seppo to be active in
the CQWW DX SSB Contest as CU2/OH1VR (Single-Band (15m)/Low-Power
entry. Juhani will be active as CU2/OH3SR on RTTY and SSB.
ZS - South Africa, Novenber 3-8th. Callsigns ZS/OH1VR and ZS/OH3SR.
9V - Singapore, November 9-10th. Activity for a few hours from 9V1PC.
HS0 - Thailand, November 10-13th. Activity from club station HS0AC.
JA - Tokyo, Japan, November 13-15th. Activity possibly as JA***.
KH6 - Honolulu, Hawaii, November 15-19th. Activity as AE6PP/KH6 and
KH6/OH3SR.
W6 - San Francisco, CA, November 19-25th. Activity as AE6PP and
W6/OH3SR.
P4 & PJ2/PJ4 - Aruba and Netherland Antillies, between November 28th
and December 13th. Callsigns: from Aruba P4/OH1VR, from Curacao
PJ2/OH1VR and PJ2/OH3SR, and from Bonaire PJ4/OH1VR and PJ4/OH3SR.

BV0, TAIWAN. Look for a BV-JA team to use the special callsign BV0J during
the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Multi/2 entry. QSL via
BW0IR: Kenichi Hoshino, P.O. Box 282, Nan-Kang, Taipei 115, TAIWAN.

EA4, SPAIN. Javi/EC4DX and Oscar/EA4TD will be active as EA4TD in the CQ
WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via EA4TD,
direct (with SASE/SAE + postage) or by the bureau.

EA6, BALEARIC ISLAND. Look for the EA6IB Team to participate in the next
CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via CBA.

EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Edu, EC8AUA, will activate the U.R.E. Sección Las
Palmas club station's callsign, EA8URL, on Gran Canaria (AF-004), during
the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band
(15m)/High-Power entry. QSL via the bureau.

FM, MARTINIQUE. Gil, FM5FJ, will be active in the CQWW DX SSB Contest as
a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m) entry. QSL via KU9C.

FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON. Ian, K8MM, will be going on a DXpedition to
the Island of Miquelon with a large group of W8s to be active in the CQWW
DX CW Contest (as FP/K8DD) from November 20-30th (See OPDX.726). He will
be active outside of the contest as FP/K8MM. However, he wants to see how
much interest there would be if takes his IC-910 and gets on FO-29, VO-52
and maybe even the FM satellites (if people can behave themselves). He
will take his gear if he can get enough responses to make the extra
weight and work of setting up a station worth while. Let Ian know by
sending him an E-mail at:

HC & HC8, ECUADOR AND GALAPAGOS ISLANDS (Lighthouse Activity). Look for
Tono, EA9CP, to activate several lighthouses on Galapagos and the Esmeraldas
Islands. Activity will be on 20/15/10 meters. QSL via his home callsign,
direct or by the Bureau. His schedule is as follows:
HC8/EA9CP - On San Cristobal Island (SA-004), Galapagos Islands. Activity
on the even days, starting October 26th through November 8th,
will be from the Patricio Hill Lighthouse (Gal-006). Activity
on the odd days, starting October 27th finishing November 7th,
will be from the Puerto Baquerizo Lighthouse (Gal-007).

HC4/EA9CP - On Wednesday, November 9th, activity from the Punta Sua
Lighthouse (ECU-037) in the Esmeralda Province, Ecuador.
On Thursday, November 10th, activity from the Esmeraldas
F-3 Lighthouse (ECU-026).
On Friday, November 11th, activity from the Punta Galera
Lighthouse (ECU-012).
On Saturday, November 12th, activity from the Esmeraldas
F-2 Lighthouse (ECU-030).
On Sunday, November 13th, activity from the Esmeraldas E-1
Lighthouse (ECU-028).
On Monday, November 14th, activity from the Cabo San Francisco
Lighthouse (ECU-016)
On Tuesday, November 15th, activity from the Esmeraldas F-1
Lighthouse (ECU-027).
LAST MINUTE ADDITION: We were informed that operator Fernando, EA1BT,
will be joining Tono. It wasn't clear whether Fernando will be active with
Tono on his lighthouse tour, but here is EA1BT schedule:
HC8/EA1BT - October 26th to November 8th, from San Cristobal Island
(SA-004, GALAPAGOS).
HC4/EA1BT - November 9-15th, from Cojimies Islands (SA-056).
Activity from both locations will be on 20/15/10 meters. QSL via EA1BT
(bureau or direct).

HS0, THAILAND. Champ, E21EIC, informs OPDX that the Siam DX Group received
the contest callsign HS0AR from the NTC this past week. They expect to
operate every contest from E21YDP's host station now until December 31st.
Look for HS0AR to be active in the CQWW DX SSB Contest as a Multi/2 entry
and the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 26-27, 2005) as a Multi-Single entry.
Operators will include HS0EHF, HS0XNO, HS1JNB, E21EIC, E21YDP, E20NMK,
E20PFE, HS6MYW and HS8KGG. QSL Manager is E21YDP.

HS0, THAILAND. Charly, K4VUD, will be active as HS0ZCW in the CQ WW DX
SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power
entry. He will also be active (using the same callsign) in the CQ WW DX
CW Contest (November 26-27th). However, his activity will be low power,
and in the search and pounce mode only. QSL via K4VUD (QRZ.com).

HS, THAILAND. The club station of the "Asian Institute of Technology",
(HS0AC) is allowed to use the special callsign HS0T on the WARC bands
until December 31st. QSL via HS6NDK.

IOTA NEWS....................
EU-125. Tom, DL4VM, plans to be active as OZ/DL4VM from Fanoe Island
(DIA NS-002 for the Danish Islands Award) until October 31st.
Activity will be on 40/20/15 meters QRP CW only. QSL via his
home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

EU-174. Hellmuth, DF7XE, will be active as SV8/DF7XE/p from Thasos
Island (MIA MG-124) until October 23rd. Activity will be on
80-10 meters SSB, PSK31 and RTTY. If propagation is bad, look
for Hellmuth to try CW (However, Hellmuth states that he is a
poor CW operator). Hellmuth will be using a Kenwood TS-480HX
into a one element Quad antenna mounted at a low height. QSL
via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

NA-034. Mike/N4MAA and Jim/N4AAC will be active as W4Z from Cunningham
Key (USI FL-284S, Pinellas County, Florida) now through October
23rd. Activity will mainly be on 20 meter CW, SSB, PSK31, SSTV,
and some QRP. There will be possible activity on other bands
when they are open. QSL direct with SASE, or SAE and 1 USA, to
N4MAA: Mike Anderson, 452 43rd Ave. N. E., Saint Petersburg,

J5, GUINEA-BISSAU. Ranko, YT6A, will be active as J5T during the CQ WW DX
SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via YT6A.

KP2/WP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Operators John/K3TEJ and John/K3CT will be
active as WP2Z during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a
Multi-2 entry. QSL via KU9C. Activity before and after the contest will
be on 160m and the WARC bands by KP2/K3TEJ and KP2/K3CT. QSL to their
home callsigns.

NEW ZEALAND TO EUROPE (Maritime Mobile Trip). Chris, ZL1CT (GM3WOJ),
informs OPDX that he will be active as ZL1CT/MM from October 26th until
early December, enroute from New Zealand to Europe. He will be travelling
via the Indian Ocean, and should be off the coast of Egypt for the CQ WW
CW Contest event. The rest of the time he will be at sea. Chris hopes to
take part in both CQ WW Contests and should be in Zone 34 for the CW event.
Operation will be on 40 and 20 meters CW/SSB only. Please QSL via N3SL.

P4, ARUBA. Andrew, AE6Y, will be active as P49Y in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest
(October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via AE6Y.

PJ4, NETHERLAND ANTILLIES. You still have a few more days to work Andy,
W9NJY, as PJ4/W9NJY from the Island of Bonaire (IOTA SA-006). He will go
QRT on October 19th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters CW, RTTY and SSB.
QSL via WD9DZV (QRZ.com).

QSL INFO AND NEWS.......................
Gerry, VE6LB/VA6XDX, informs OPDX that Vitaly, VE6JO, has asked him
to take over as QSL Manager for his 3C2MV operation. Most direct cards
are up-to-date but no bureau cards have yet been processed. The plan is
to keep all direct cards current and print a new run of QSLs for the
bureau cards in the coming months. Bureau cards will be answered in
time, so try to be patient, please don't re-submit. If you need a card
quickly, please consider a direct request.

QSL S21SHQ via S21D: Aminul Kawser Khan, Deputy National Commissioner,
Bangladesh Scouts, P.O. Box 5130, 1205 Dhaka, Bangladesh. Activity
was during this past weekend's Jamboree-on-the Air (JOTA). This special
event station was active from the hill top of "CHANDRANATH" at
****akundo, Chittagong. The QTH is 800 meters above sea level. About
150 Scouts were expected to join this event. Operators mentioned we
S21AM, S21L, S21S, S21RC and S21D.

UPDATE. Al, K6SIX, announced that he received an E-mail from Eugene,
RZ3EC, and it is now official that Al/K8SIX and Russ/VE6VK will be drop
points for the S79EC, S79RRC/A, S79RRC/C and S79RRC/F DXpedition in North
America and HA1AG will be the Europe drop. QSLs will be handled the same
as for the R0K DXpedition for those of you who worked that one. All three
IOTAs can go in one envelope if so desired. PLEASE make sure you include
a SASE so they can send the card to you once Eugene sends them a package.
Any donations will be forwarded to Eugene as they were for R0K operation
which worked out very well. South America can also go via K8SIX if so
desired. NO bureau cards please.

R1, MALYJ VYSOTSKIJ ISLAND (MVI). Reports indicate that Vlad, UA2FF, is
currently preparing for his next MVI DXpedition to take place November
17-28th. This activity will include operations during the Leonids meteor
shower and the CQWW DX CW Contest. R1MVI is expected to be looking
particularly for North America and Japan on 80 and 160m. This will be a
very large operation with about 25 operators including some very well-known
Topband operators. They are preparing big vertical TX antennas including
Beverages for both short and long paths to North America (and other areas).
Because of the rarity of MVI on the low bands and that the MVI team is
mainly focusing their operations on the low bands, the NCDXF has approved
a 1000 USD contribution for this expedition.

SPECIAL EVENT. Look for special event station TM4ORA to be active from
October 20th to November 20th. Activity is to commemorates the 40th
anniversary of the foundation of the French Blind Ham National Society,
the "Union Nationale des Aveugles Radioamateurs de FRANCE" (UNARAF).
Activity will be on HF/VHF and CW/SSB. Each QSO is also valid towards
the "Louis Braille Award". QSL via the Bureau or direct to: Monsieur Guy
Couteau, 96 Rue du 19 Mars 1962, F- 93220 GAGNY, France.

TF, ICELAND. Siggi, TF3CW, will be active in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest
(October 29-30th) as Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/High-Power entry. QSL
via LX1NO.

TI, COSTA RICA. A large stateside team will be active from the QTH of
TI5KD between October 27-31st. Their goal is to be active in the CQ WW
DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as TI5N as a Multi-Multi entry. QSL via
N8JE. Operators mentioned a N6JRL, N8JE, N0ZUQ, KI0DN, KF0FWC, KD4YHY,
KC8WTG, KA8LGS and W8ILC.

V4, NEVIS. Andrei, EW1AR (NC2N), will be active from here October 23-31st.
He is expected to use both V44/EW1AR and V44/NC2N callsigns before the
CQWW DX SSB Contest weekend. During the Contest, look for Andrei to use
the contest callsign V49A and be active as a Single-Op/Single-Band (80m)
entry. Activity outside of the contest (before) will be mostly RTTY on
all bands with some CW/SSB. QSL via W3HNK.

V4, NEVIS. Boris, UU5SY (KC2FVN), will be active as V44/KC2FVN from October
23-31st. Activity will be on all HF bands and will include participation
in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band
(10m) entry. Look for CW/SSB activity before the contest. QSL via KC2FVN.

V4, NEVIS. Doc, W9NY, will be here between October 27-31st and plans to
be active as V47NS during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest as a Single-Op/Single-
Band (20m) entry. QSL via W9NY. ADDED NOTE FROM W9NY: "Some mix-up in prior
QSLs as our QSL manager was tragically killed in an experimental aircraft
crash and many QSL cards remain in limbo at his former home. Anyone not
receiving response to QSLs sent previously should resubmit them as we have
ALWAYS QSLed 100% on received cards."

VK9X, CHRISTMAS ISLAND. Just a reminder that David/VK2CZ and Charlie/W0YG
will be active next weekend as VK9XD (QSL via VK6NE) and VK9XG (QSL via
W0YG, direct), respectively, from here between October 23rd and November
6th. Look for VK9XD to be active in the CQWW DX SSB Contest. Also remember,
Charlie will go to Cocos-Keeling (as VK9CG) after his operation on VK9X
between November 8-21st. QSL VK9CG direct to W0YG.

VP9, BERMUDA. Paul, K1XM, will be active as VP9I during the CQ WW DX SSB
Contest (October 29-30th) and the CQ WW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th)
as Single-Op/Low-Power entry. QSL via KQ1F.

XU, CAMBODIA. Rich/DK8YY (XU7AYY), Ingolf/DL4JS (XU7AJS), Detlef/DL3ALI
(XU7ALI) and Kuni/DL3JVN (XU7AVN) will operate from Cambodia now through
October 28th. Activity will be on SSB, CW and Digimode. QSLs for XU7AYY,
XU7AJS, XU7ALI and XU7AVN are via DH7WW: Ulrich Moeckel, Muldenstr. 1,
08304 Schoenheide, Germany. Bureau QSL are "OK".

ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. Opeators Ben/SM7EQL, Jan-Olof/SM7ETW and Rikard/
SM1CQA will be active as ZK1EQL, ZK1ETW and ZK1CQA, respectively, from
Rarotonga (OC-013), October 19-20th. They also plan to be active from
Mangaia Island (OC-159), October 21-31st. Activity from both islands will
be on 80-20 meters CW, SSB and some digital modes. For more information
