3Y0X DVD/QSL NEWS. A press release sent out last week by Bob/K4UEE and
Ralph/K0IR announced that the "first batch of the 3Y0X Souvenir QSL cards
are in the mail. Thanks to the Herculean efforts of Bob, N2OO, and
dedicated members of the SJDXA, 115 pounds of mail was sent out on Monday,
May 8th. The actual design layout was begun prior to departing for Peter I.
Our team photographer was given a "shot list" and charged with getting
just the right pictures for the QSL. While on the ship returning from
Peter I, the pictures were E-mailed back to the QSL designer and the design
finalized. This is not your ordinary card, and we are sure it will be
considered one of your most prized QSLs. Souvenir cards were mailed to
about 2/3 of the individuals who contributed to the DXpedition expenses
AND whose cards were received through the beginning of April. Over the next
two weeks, the remainder of this group of cards will be processed. After
Dayton, the QSL team will resume processing the rest of the contributor
cards as well as the non-contributor cards. Bureau cards will be processed
at an appropriate time in the future.
Please watch the website (www.peterone.com) for further announcements
as to progress on the QSLing. Bob, N2OO, has asked that everyone please
be patient. Please do not E-mail to Bob at this time. When the cards are
all processed, he will then gladly assist with any QSL issues. We hope you
enjoy this last part of the 3Y0X DX-perience!" 73, Ralph, K0IR
Bob, K4UEE

The Peter I Island DVD is now in post-production and won't be ready until
late summer/early fall. However, you can pre-order your Peter I Island
"3Y0X DX-perience" DVD early and receive a discount on it. To place an
order visit the following Web page at: http://www.peterone.com/dvd/index.htm

Steve, KU9C, suggests the following when sending for QSLs for the recent
YX0A/YX0LIX DXpedition:
1) Please DO NOT include QSLs for other stations he manages with your
YX0A/YX0LIX QSLs; this will substantially delay your QSL return.

2) Please address your envelope COMPLETELY, including your COUNTRY if
not in the USA.

3) Please, if you send him more than one stamp for your SASE as a
donation, affix one of the stamps to your envelope, in the event that
the other stamps are lost in the shuffle.

Steve states, "I'll be posting the logs, with the team's permission,
on LoTW. I anticipate this will be not in the near future, but it will
happen if you're in no hurry for the QSL. I'll be doing bureau QSLs,
but I tend to do bureau cards on an annual basis. It will be several
months before I start that process; I get my QSL cards in LARGE boxes,
so a bureau card will not come to me for some time." ADDED NOTE: The
YX0A/YX0LIX logs are now available online at:
http://www.qsl.net/gdxc/Logs/logbook.htm

Contest (May 27-28th) as Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL route was not
mentioned.

V47, ST. KITTS AND NEVIS. Reiner, DL2AAZ, plans to be active as V47/DL2AAZ
from the Island of Nevis (NA-104), July 20th to August 10th. Activity will
be on 40/20/15/10 meters SSB and CW, with 100 watts, dipole and groundplane
antennas. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

V5, NAMIBIA (African Trip). Nick, G3RWF, will be active as V5/G3RWF starting
September 14th for 3 weeks. From Namibia he will travel to South Africa (ZS)
for another 3 weeks (possibly including 4-5 days in Lesotho - 7P). He hopes
to work more RSARS members from V5 than last time (i.e. total of more than
zero!). Nick will be /p from the very north - a few days first near Victoria
Falls (Zambia and Botswana and therefore not QRV!). He will then drive
west right along the Angolan border and then loop south to Windhoek and
thereafter to South Africa (worked 30+ members last time). QSL via his
home callsign.

VI9, NORFOLK ISLAND (Pitcairner landing celebrations by Jim Smith, VK9NS).
"Although I have lived on Norfolk for almost 26 years and Kirsti many more
years neither of us are Norfolk Islanders!! June of this year marks the
150th Anniversary of the landing of the people of Pitcairn Island, the
decendants of the Bounty Mutineers, on Norfolk Island.

The discovery of Pitcairn Island with its 'lost' population is a whole
saga in itself. The subsequent movement of this population was sanctioned
by Queen Victoria. The Britsh government then arranged their transport
to, and settlement on, the vacant possession of Norfolk Island.

(Some Pitcairners subsequently wished to return 'home' to Pitcairn. This
was allowed and carried out on a one off and final basis. Hence the
current Christian and Young, etc., families resident on Pitcairn Island.)

The celebration of this unique migration is special to the Norfolk
Islanders (those of Pitcairn descent) and there are many things being
planned. It will be an very interesting period.

To help celebrate the event the HIDXA Club has been issued with the
special callsigns of VI9NL and VI9NS for the whole month of June covering
the period of the celebrations. Kirsti, VK9NL, and myself, VK9NS, will
use these special callsigns and will both try to be as active as
possible during the period.

For the record, the HIDXA Club was created some 23 years ago after the
return from Heard Island, and is registered on Norfolk Island...."
73 Jim, VK9NS

will enable them to keep an eye on all grey line propagation. QSL via VK4FW,
by the VK4 QSL Bureau or direct to: PO Box 612, Childers, 4660, Australia
(w/ a with minimum of 2 USDs). The team would like to sincerely thank the
following for their support: TET EMTRON, CAL-AV LABS, DANISH DX GROUP,
VK3AJJ, VK4AN, VK4CY, VK4NEF, VK6NKG, VK4FW and the members of ODXG. As a
reminder, the team is still in need of some donations to help offset the
huge costs of freighting in the equipment. Further information can be

VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS (Updates/News/QSL Corrections).....
More information was announced this past week about the two new YL
operators on VU4-land. These two YLs hold valid India licenses and have
permission to transmit from VU4. Operators are Ms. Suraj Moli, VU3VPX,
and Ms. Lizzie Dcruz, VU3VPY. No one knows why they got VU3 callsigns
instead of VU4 callsigns, but they are legit. Frank, DL4KQ/VU3FRK, who
recently returned (May 6th) from Port Blair, stated that "Ms. Molly,
VU3VPX, and and Mrs. Lizzy, VU3VPY," are legit VU4 licenses since
September of last year. However, the YLs didn't own any equipment
beside an old funny straight key. He (Frank) mentioned Doug, N6TQS,
immediately decided to donate his SIGMA5 antenna and Frank dropped of
his own Elecraft K2/100 with seperate KAT100 antenna tuner, a power
supply and a Heil headset. Thanks to Frank, their station is now set up
and the YLs can now be active on 20-10 meters (SIGMA5) and on 40 meters
with a dipole. (Unfortunately, the noise level at the College is extremely
high and Frank recommended to them to look for a better place/building.)
Bernie, W3UR, Editor of The Daily, also reported this past week that his
group (that was at VU4) was was invited to the "Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Govt.
Polytechnic School". They met with the Principal Shri, Utpal Sharma and
several other potential hams. In fact a Amateur Radio class will be
starting up very soon with 30 students, including the Principal, teachers
and students of the school. A radio was promised to the club by an
anonymous donor. In fact the rig is currently in Bangkok. An antenna is
also being worked on plus other accessories for the club station. Complete
details will be released to the DX community soon, maybe even at Dayton.

PLEASE NOTE: The following are corrections/revisied updates to OPDX.758
under "VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS (Updates/News)" in the collected QSL routes.
The following should read:

QSL VU4AN/VU3KIE via OH2BN. Operator Jorma, OH2KI. Online log available
at: http://koti.welho.com/tlinden2/logsearch/vu4logs.html
QSL VU4AN/VU3OHB via OH2BN. Operator Martti, OH2BH. Online log available
at: http://koti.welho.com/tlinden2/logsearch/vu4logs.html
QSL VU4AN/VU3PLM via IK1PMR. Operator YL Claudia, K2LEO. Online log
available at: http://www.ik1pmr.com/logs/
QSL VU4AN/VU3RWO via N3ST. Operator David, K3LP. Online log available
at:http://www.dx-pedition.de/andaman2006/logs.html
QSL VU4AN/VU3TLY via IK1PMR. Operator Andrea, IK1PMR. Online log available
at: http://www.ik1pmr.com/logs/

There has been some confusion on the QSL routes. Martti, OH2BH, informed
OPDX that OH2BN is the QSL Manager (not OH2BH) for all three stations:
VU4AN/VU3KIE, VU4AN/VU3OHA and VU4AN/VU3OHB. Also, John, K1XN, of the
GoList, advises that he received a note from David, K3LP, the operator
of VU4AN/VU3RWO, and he assures John that N3ST is the ONLY QSL Manager for
VU4AN/VU3RWO. As far as stations VU4AN/VU3PLM and VU4AN/VU3TLY, operator
Andrea/IK1PMR (alias VU3TLY) announced on one of the DX mailing list that
you can send QSLs direct to him for both VU3TLY and VU3PLM. He states,
"We're discussing about appointing F5CWU as a group manager, but still it's
not clear to me if all team members will agree." OPDX hopes that we were
able to clear up some of the QSL confusion.

YO, ROMANIA. Jean Michel, F6AJA, French DX Editor of the Les Nouvelles
DX, will once again be active as YO/F6AJA from May 22-28th from YO8FZ's
station during my free time.

ZP0, PARAGUAY. Tomas, ZP5AZL, is planning to be active as ZP0R in the
CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 28-29th) as a Single-Op entry. QSL via
W3HNK. Meanwhile, Jorge, CX6VM, will be active as ZP0R in the CQWW DX
CW Contest (November 25-26th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry.
Also, QSL via W3HNK.

ZW2, BRAZIL (Update/Correction). Look for ZW2FEN (not ZW4FEN as first
reported) to be active during the "FIRST FAIR OF RADIOAMADORISMO OF BRAZIL"
(FENARCOM), July 14-16th. Activity will be on all modes and bands. QSL
via PY2QI. More information via:
