Picard vs Kirk, was Now That It's "Over"...

Was Kirk a no coder, or would he have know Morse? I say Picard knew Morse code, because of a combined respect for history, and a desire to communicate in extremis if need be. Kirk was a no coder, because of, well just because. 8^) Apparently Kirk did know the Morse code, since he was able to copy the "SOS" being sent by antique space ship from Earth full of the genetically enhanced people in suspended animation in "Space Seed." 73 de Larry, K3LT A Treker, not a "Trekkie" |

Kirk was a no coder, because of, well just because. 8^) Wrong. Kirk knows Morse. There was the original ST episode where they find the "sleeper ship" contianinf Kahn (Ricardo Montelban) and all his crew in hibernation from the 21st century, and proceed to wake them up. They find the sleeper ship by means of its radio beacon, which is sending CQ over and over. Uhura (didja know she only had the one name?) of course knows what it says and starts reading it for Kirk, but he says "I'm reading it too, Lieutenant". Then, there was the film "Fantastic Voyage" 73 de Jim, N2EY |

Then the wall blew in and Scotty was standing there saying in his trademark brogue, "Well? What are you all just standing around for? Do you not know a jailbreak when you see one?" 73 DE John, KC2HMZ |

That last bit of information is a bit more than really needed to be shared with the rest of us, Larry, but I'll resist the temptation to take the obvious shot...too easy. I will say this...hope everything comes out alright. :-) Thanks, John! 73 de Larry, K3LT |

Whatever. Nevermind. bb |

Brian: Thanks for the kind words. It did go well. I had an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy at the same time, so they got me from both ends! I don't have the results yet, but the examination was routine, as opposed to being driven by a specific problem -- at least as far as the Colonoscopy was concerned. The Endoscopy was to diaganose the cause of my GERD -- or GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease. I've been on Prilosec(R) for about 6 years now, and just thought it was about time they took a look under the hood to see if the problem can be fixed, rather than just having me throw expensive prescription drugs at it for the rest of my life. 73 de Larry, K3LT Larry, this is starting to sound like HF SSB. I hope your microphone is still put away. bb |
