Default BPL: Any chance it's a "Jolly the Lobbyist Along" game?

Any chance the FCC commissioners are fully aware that BPL has no future,
and are just "jollying" the lobbyists along to get their campaign
contributions? After all, once they get the money, then:
"oops! Don't work like you said it did. Too bad- tough break etc."

I don't believe so ... I believe that the Commissioners genuinely want
another broadband delivery alternative to spur competition with DSL,
cable modem, and WISPs ...

Besides, the Commissioners are appointees ... they don't have to
raise campaign funds.

more likely its the bpl manufacturers hyping the technology to everyone and
hoping to sell a bunch of it before the utilities find out how much it
really costs, the users find out how poor it really performs, and the other
users of the spectrum find out how much it really hurts.
