They've also got a thing for that young lady with the short dress and high

been in every single catalog I've received (for years). Universal says
they've been in business since 1942 and I have to wonder at this point if
that same photograph has been in the catalog throughout all that time.
Indeed, that "young woman" could be 70-80 years old today. However, the
dress, hair style, and style of high heels, suggests the picture was taken
in the 70's, which means she may only be 40-50 years old. :-)

Universal is a couple miles from my home. I've bought small items
from them, but have never ordered by mail any radio, so did not
comment on topic. But as far as the slender blond with the high heels
goes, I've seen her there and she's one of the hottest ladies in
amateur radio, but I don't think she has a license. She's probably in
her 40's.

That would be Barb Osterman... She is KC8VWI

Ham Radio sure is busting out all over!

What is the Djibouti card on your site?

It's a QSL from Radio Djibouti.

I was fortunate (or was it unfortunate) enough to visit Djibouti in 1979. Quite the experience.
No, I didn't hear them on SW then, but I did hear them on MW.

they are very good on returns, my friend bought a used antenna from
them, sent it back and they did not charge him a restocking fee.

there is one dealer www.radios4you.com /(electronic-specialties on eBay)
that does not give refunds under most situations.

from their website:

5. All Sales Final. Sorry we do not offer a satisfaction warranty and do
not accept returns. Reasonable attempts will be made to provide an
upgrade solution if requested and the original product is returned in
new condition. A 25% restocking fee will be deducted for returns without
explicit e-mail approval.

My reason for asking is they seem to never ship on time
and always have to back order, sometimes taking 30 days
or more to back order.

This makes sense and may explain why so many are receiving
returned goods as new items.

Yep, as noted above, I guessed she was somewhere in her 40's.

Have you seen the gal in the Burghart
advertisements? Wow!

No, I haven't. I'll have to keep my eyes open for it. 8-)

It's hard to tell if the picture in the catalog and the pictures on the
web site are of the same woman. None of the pictures are close-ups of the
face. Regardless, the woman on the web site certainly does fill out that top
very nicely.

No, it's not... those pictures are of
much more recent vintage than 20-30
years ago... guaranteed.

I think Michael was talking about the picture in the catalog (as 20-30
years ago), not the pictures on the web site. The woman in the catalog is
much younger looking - perhaps the same woman, but an older picture of her.

Yes. They are very courteous and helpful. I too have had slow response
insofar as when my item leaves their facility. Takes a week or more
from when the order is placed. I also have experienced the back order
phenomenon on numerous occasions.

Not bad, 90% approval.
Sounds like they can be trusted to do a good job.

LOL. I have a similar experience to Tom's. Why go with an
apparent "90% approval rating" when you can go with a 100%
approval rating, i.e. try Grove Enterprises or AES.

AES 100%?? Puleeeze..

I'm at least one person that's not happy with them..
