QST over-emphasizes the ham involvement of MARS and under-emphasizes the fact that the U.S. Army started it in 1925 and now all three major military service branches are involved in that Military Affiliate Radio System as a self-standing radio system which MIGHT, but hardly ever does for a fact, serve the long-existing regular military communications facilities.
