On another "radio-related" newsgroup, an amateur asks:

"Subject: 80 meter European and Russian SSB frequencies?

Where is a list of the freq allocations for DX on 80m ssb?"

From the worlds greatest dxer, I was under the impression that we
weren't permitted to know the amateur allocations of other countries.
We must blindly tune up and down the bands hoping that we snag a
contact with a needed country. Having knowledge of where to tune is
forbidden.

1. I'll point out for a fourth, fifth or sixth time, I've never claimed
to be the world's greatest DXer--but I thank you for the compliment.

You assume I was talking about you?

Yes, as a matter of fact I do. You've written the same thing a number
of times and we have certainly discussed the amateur allocations of
other countries. If you have a correction to make, please do so.

Suit yourself. You're not the world's greatest DXer, merely well
known.

2. Your statement is not only incorrect, it is deliberately so. Not
being required to know the amateur allocations of foreign countries is
nothing at all like not being permitted to know. Do you know what they
call a person who tells a deliberate untruth?

Please allow me to confer with Steve on this one.

I didn't think you knew the answer.

"Steve."

Or he just hangs out and waits for the spots to roll in, or works the
nets.

Your DXploits are legend.

Small world, so are yours.

That's right. Anyone can find out quite a bit about them by doing a
Google search. It's odd that when I did the same for yours, nuttin'
came up except one log entry from a Swede during the time you were in
KH2-land.
I'm pretty sure that there's nothing a guy like you could learn from me.

I wouldn't say that. I could probably learn something amateur radio
related from you, maybe even a lot.

I just don't like your accusations or your approach.

Work France on 6 lately?

No, "William", I haven't.

Phew!

I did work Iowa, Illinois, Michigan,
Wisconsin and Minnesota among other states on 2m SSB a few evenings
back. I didn't bother to check to see if everyone was operating where
he is permitted to be.

Shouldn't have been a problem, them being domestic and bound by the
same privs you are (with the exception of the Novice. Work any
"out-of-the-box WN-prefix Extras?").

I just made sure that I was where I was
permitted to be.

That's the best policy.

Thanks for your interest.

Dave K8MN

Quitewelcome.
