For as long as I can remember there's been a "window" on 40 meters where I've been able to work any country in EU. Actually, quite a few of the EU countries have opened 7100-7200 to their hams as a result of the outcome of WRC-03. About 2 weeks ago, I worked G0EVY, Dave, in central UK, on about 7195 SSB from my mobile at around 11:00 pm EDT while driving back from a ham club meeting in New Jersey. Dave was a solid S9+ and indicated that he's on that part of the band practically every night for several hours. 73, Carl - wk3c |

A-yup...My FT-757 isn't the most luxurious rig on the market, but that split feature works well...Use it lots for the DX tests...Even for routine calls...I've made a lot of "random" QSOs by tuning 7050 to 7100 then transmitting where they indicate they are listening. 73 Steve, K4YZ |

Yup. One can run quite a few DX stations split during the major voice contests on 40 meters. Dee D. Flint, N8UZE |

Conversely, there are plenty of 5-wpm Extras who "earned" it and discovered that CW is actually quite fun, not to mention a seriously "bitchin'" (Pardon my French.) mode for snagging the DX that rarely, if ever, shows up on phone.
