We at the FCC don't care who the Pirate is because afterall, we want to
eventually auction off the Ham Radio frequencies to the highest bidder in order to raise money for the U.S. Treasury. FCCHAM "Herb" wrote in message ... Anybody know who the pirate on 3965 is? tnx, Herb |

FCCHAM Heck, no one wants hf (at least around here - and the FCC has no authority in Africa). It is VHF and above where the money is. Who wants a cell phone when someone can come on yelling "audiooooooo ..." from 5 states away? Nope, hf bands are probably *reasonably* safe. My bet is that 220 and 440 are the next to get hit, but I hope I'm wrong. Best regards from Rochester, NY Jim AA2QA |

In the rest of the world, the amateur band ends at 3800. There are many Euro-pirates that broadcast around 3900 - some with quite high power, and many of which have been heard worldwide. Steve, K4YZ Says he is located in the Blue Ridge Mtns and gives a U.S. toll free number to call in when he is on the air. The number is different for each show, because he says he temporarily rents the number. Wellllp!~ Guess I got THAT one wrong! Wonder if it's the same pseudo-neurotic militia creep that was on 6955 and 73(24?) a couple eyars ago...??? 73 Steve, K4YZ |
Hello chaps,

There are some great Dutch and German ones on that band, as well as UK stations like "Radio Skeleton" which is usually just some guy waffling on. A bit Wogan-esque without the in-jokey hyperbolic conjecture, excepting the joke in the nomenclature, being that it's the "bare bones of a radio station". Well, it was funny the first time. By the way, I heard that in the UK, they are going to throw the licensing of hams over to the RSGB, which is a sort of self-appointed amateur radio regulating body. I don't know how true it is, but these days more than ever in the UK, you can't believe anything you see or hear! Anyway, who cares about licensing as long as nobody gets hurt? Sounds like the RA only bother about it when it suits them. Or possibly more accurately, when it suits the treasury. |
