Despite what we plan on, we are some times steered in other direction by events. A number of these events have occurred in the club I am a member of, and the balloon project has been temporarily slowed by my new position as Chairman of the Pennsylvania QSO party. DON'T YOU KNOW THE RULEZ AS POSTED IN HERE?!?!? Where are they posted? They're not. Len's just being his usual self, not bothering to be constrained by reality, logic or common sense, let alone civil behavior. If you merely hint at doing something in here, you MUST CARRY OUT THAT ACTION or be forever a target of negative criticsm of "utter failure" and other sweet things said by all those others! If that's what you think, Len, where's your Extra? Umm, I haven't exactly "not" carried it out yet. There is/was no specific timetable. It's only been a few months. Henceforth, Mike Coslo will be forever labeled with the title of FAILURE TO REACH THE EDGE OF SPACE BY HAM RADIO! By whom? You may label me as whatever you like. The differences between my near-space ballooning project, and your "extra out of the box" are significant. One big difference is that I still intend to do the project. Here's a bunch mo - The balloon project has been declared impossible by Len. Nobody has declared it impossible for Len to get his Extra out of the box. - The balloon project involves a lot more than passing a few written and one code test. - You have only spent a few months on the balloon project. Len made his declaration more than 5 years ago. Also, an amateur radio license has been available to him since childhood (no age limits even back then) yet he hasn't even gotten a Tech. - You did not say you were going to reach 100,000 feet, just that you were going to try. Len said he was going for the Extra but hasn't even tried yet. - The balloon project is a group effort. Getting a license isn't. Lots more differences. 73 de Jim, N2EY |

BBBWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! ! ! ! !! ! From "The Man Who Said He Did Everything But Did Nothing At All"...!!!!!!!!! Oh well, Steve. I knew I was going to take my lumps from Len and Brian K. So be it. Reports of the Near-Space Ballooning project's demise are greatly exxagerated....... I just wish I was closer to you, Mike...I'd be tickled to even help hold the launch lines on a project like that! (Remembering to let go at an appropriate moment, of course! =) ) Seems pretty exciting to me... 73 Steve, K4YZ |

That's the spirit, Brian! Notice, Mike, that your comments about "taking lumps" were SPECIFICALLY directed at the OTHER Brian, yet Brian Burke jumped in to say "no lumps"...?!?! Maybe if he weren't always so prompt to be the antagonizer he would have realized that you WEREN'T talking about HIM, Mike...?!?!! 73 Steve, K4YZ |
