Near space update - sort of

Hello all,

This is sort of an update on the near space ballooning project I was
working on.

Despite what we plan on, we are some times steered in other direction
by events. A number of these events have occurred in the club I am a
member of, and the balloon project has been temporarily slowed by my new
position as Chairman of the Pennsylvania QSO party.

The PAQSO party is the largest state QSO party, and will take up a lot
of my time. This means the ballooning project will be on the back burner
for a year or so.

I'm a bit disappointed that there is a delay, but am plenty excited
about the prospects of running the QSO party.

Go ahead. I announced it so you could have your chance. Just an

I probably would have just kept my yap shut until someone asked. YIMV.

significant.

One big difference is that I still intend to do the project.

They're not. Len's just being his usual self, not bothering
to be constrained by reality, logic or common sense, let alone
civil behavior.

Here's a bunch mo

- The balloon project has been declared impossible by Len. Nobody
has declared it impossible for Len to get his Extra out of the box.

- The balloon project involves a lot more than passing a few written
and one code test.

- You have only spent a few months on the balloon project. Len made his
declaration more than 5 years ago. Also, an amateur radio license has
been available to him since childhood (no age limits even back then)
yet he hasn't even gotten a Tech.

- You did not say you were going to reach 100,000 feet, just that you
were going to try. Len said he was going for the Extra but hasn't even
tried yet.

- The balloon project is a group effort. Getting a license isn't.

Lots more differences.

It is kind of an odd thing. Whereas the Balloon project is just put off
for a bit, the Party starts in some 7 months. The ballooning will wait.
Assuming I live long enough, there are years and years to do the project.

I'm a little surprised that some folk have fixated on that 100 kilofoot
thing anyhow. That isn't the goal. It is the project integration and the
experiments that are the goal. Lest I be accused of "downgrading the
expectations", there are cases in which 100 kilofoot is exceeded by
several thousand feet. That particular part is governed by when the
balloon breaks.

- The balloon project is a group effort. Getting a license isn't.

Lots more differences.

Google archives have the documents to support it.

Shame for you, Brain, that when your son get's around to looking

I'm surprised big badass dave hasn't jumped in here
yet harrumphing about getting a license or shut uppa

[oops, spoke too soon...:-) ]

Tsk. It's not been my intention to get any amateur
license. I got a commercial license (with the FCC
on the first exam) some 49 years ago...and used that.
My advocacy is just to eliminate the morse code test.
So many sorry asses in here just don't see that.

Guess all that hullabaloo over the recent "SpaceShip One" stuff
was silly too? "Man" has already done the suborbital thing before, yet
it seems there is still a need, even commercial opportunites, for
suborbital space travel.

Can you show us where further experimenting with hig altitude

well established your lack of character. We just enjoy rubbing your
nose in it. You give us so many opportunities, afterall.

Tsk. The "near space" thing has already been done
by "real" hams. Mikey can't claim any "pioneering"
things about that now or in the future. He still
seems to want all those congratulations for somthing
not done yet. Curious.

Guess all that hullabaloo over the recent "SpaceShip One" stuff
was silly too? "Man" has already done the suborbital thing before, yet
it seems there is still a need, even commercial opportunites, for
suborbital space travel.

Can you show us where further experimenting with hig altitude
baloons would NOT be comercially viable?

Tsk. It's not been my intention to get any amateur
license. I got a commercial license (with the FCC
on the first exam) some 49 years ago...and used that.

Acknowledgement of the lie. Finally.

My advocacy is just to eliminate the morse code test.

Then why are you in here going on about high altitude balloons?
They have nothing to do with Morse Code examinations.

So many sorry ##### in here just don't see that.
Because they can't see that, they invent all sorts of
motives. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

We can see a lot, Lennie. We can see your acknowledged lie above,
and the further lie of your intent in this discussion group.

If anyone wants to see what got me interested in
REAL radio, there's two documents on this site:

http://kauko.hallikainen.org/history/equipment/

Look under "Stations" for the PDF links. Both will
take about an hour to download at dial-up data
rates of 50 KBPS.

After you've spammed the group for years with the same stories
year after year..?!?!

Sorry to hear you're on dial-up too, Lennie...Sheesh...Here I am
in Podunk, Tennessee in the fast lane, and you're still rowing upstream
in SoCal!

Go figure!

Steve, K4YZ

When is k4yz going to post proof MAN was cited, fined, sanctioned, etc.
Well?

When are you going to post proof of these professsional asociates that
you claim are doing pro bono stuff for the idiot MAN, or is this more of
your blathering?
Are your toddyboy's father by chance? You seem to be as big an idiot as
he is.

No lumps. There's still lots of things I'd like to do. Some will
have to wait for retirement.

Coslonaut is still wanting a round of hearty high-fives
for something he HAS NOT DONE YET! :-)

Maybe there will still be some in "the box" when he gets around to it.

You mean the "box of cereal," the one with the
astronaut wings in it? :-)

Tsk. The "near space" thing has already been done

Have you read any statment by Mike to indicate that he was looking for

Congrats on your upcoming "Extra right out of the box", Leonard.

I'm surprised big badass dave hasn't jumped in here
yet harrumphing about getting a license or shut uppa
yo face. :-) [just call him davie] :-)

Okay, Lennie, (or should I use "little wizened Lennie"?) It is much
more entertaining to let you type until your fingers bleed, about
something in which you are irrelevant.

[oops, spoke too soon...:-) ]

You do that frequently. :-)

Tsk. It's not been my intention to get any amateur
license.

The issue of whether you have had an intention of obtaining an amateur
radio license seemingly depends upon the tides. You've indicated that
you want such a license. You've indicated that you don't want it. Tsk.

I got a commercial license (with the FCC
on the first exam) some 49 years ago...and used that.

....not for amateur radio operation, you haven't.

My advocacy is just to eliminate the morse code test.

So you've said. In practice, you're actions and words extend far beyond
that claim.

So many sorry asses in here just don't see that.

It'd be easier to see if it happened to be true.

Because they can't see that, they invent all sorts of
motives. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

You have to have at least one motive. Nobody obsesses about the
regulation of something in which he isn't involved over a period of
twenty years. Why it would take a complete crackpot to do... Oh.
Never mind.

If anyone wants to see what got me interested in
REAL radio, there's two documents on this site:

I appreciate your interest in REAL radio. What got you interested in
amateur radio to the extent that you decided to set out to change it to
something which meets with your approval?

Look under "Stations" for the PDF links. Both will
take about an hour to download at dial-up data
rates of 50 KBPS.

No thanks. It is likely more of the same stuff we've read here for
nearly a decade.

Uhhhhhhhhhh...Brain......

YOU are the one who said you were making disparging comments to

As heartbreaking as it may be, your son is going to have to find

How do you think he's going to feel when he get's a chance to read

You're a liar, Brian P Burke. Got caught, more than once, and now
it's archived in a medium that you can't control.

No...best of luck to YOU, Brian. YOU are the one who's going to

Good luck on THAT one now...

I take no warnings, instructions nor advice from you.

On the other hand, YOU had better take some advice.

Your eyes are not those of a crazed lunatic. Nor are mine.

But your eyes ARE those of a pathological liar.

One day, your son will want to know more about his father.

He'll put "Brian P Burke" into Google (or it's successor), and
guess what he'll find?

Reams and reams of YOU getting reamed for lying over and over.

Have a nice day.
