apology for the failure of a CBer are those class B
licensees who falsely proclaimed that they were against
the use of a Morse Test to control access to the HF

intellectual level, the intellectual level of 6-year-olds. "

Hold on a mo. I'm a class B licence holder - G8LIR, and have been for,
oh about 30 years I think. My main interest was in fast scan ATV on 70
Cms and 23cms, and with a small team we competed in many ATV contests,
setting new (and I think unbroken) records. All our equipment was home
built - yes I do mean ALL - including narrow band ATV receivers
utilising inline cavities and integrating receivers to subtract noise
and reveal lost images when only a weak sync pulse was available. We
also DESIGNED and built the linear amplifiers using 4cx250's in push
pull, with 2kv on the anodes and tuneable cavities (not copied
designs). And, oh yes, we designed filters using laplace transforms to
calculate the correct vaues for the inductors, wound them ourselves and
tuned then with second hand spectrum analysers.

Now to me, that level of technical expertise speaks to a certain
intellectual level over a 6 year olds.

I was considering returning to the hobby, but frankly the view in this
FAQ has put me off.

Anyone care to comment ?

The person who wrote the so-called 'faq' was himself a B licensee for
many years, before taking the morse test and getting an A. The excuse
he trotted out for this - after much prompting about the
more-than-a-decade gap between these two events - was 'an interest in
VHF/UHF techniques'.

Unfortunately for this belated post-justification, he has never
published what he accomplished in that extended period.

It is said that 'empty vessels make the most noise'.

If you want to return to the hobby, then do so and enjoy it. Do not be
put off by someone who doesn't believe there is such a thing as 'slope
detection', or who sold an FT-101 because the tune-up pages were
missing from the manual.....don't ask......

Yes, indeed.

You can discount without loss anything the writer of that so-called
"FAQ" has written, is writing, or will ever write. He attempts to
demean people who have attained heights he can't even see, much less
comprehend. He has nothing to say, and insists on doing so at length.

Don't let him put you off anything. Jump in; the water's fine.

It is no wonder wherever he goes he is loathed, I wonder if his wife knows
that he condones the murders of children, and police officers etc. The
"Orator For Decency" would not know the meaning of decency, he appears to be
a bitter, evil, and twisted little 'man' , if it were not for visits from
the police I doubt if he would have any visitors. His inferiority complex
must give him sleepless nights.

From what you write below, you would seem to qualify as
a _REAL_ Radio Ham, the essence of Radio Hammery,
and pursuing activities that the FAQ praises.

To get as far as the bit you quote below, you must have
read the opening paragraphs which speak in support of
the style of Radio Hammery which you say is you, and so
it is difficult to understand why you should seem to take offence
at remarks which clearly are not directed at you. As you say below,
you have been "out of it" for a number of years, so it is unlikely
that you were aware of the gangrenous degeneration that is
the M3/CB Fools' Licence scheme or that you availed yourself
of the facility.

The groups which are criticised by the FAQ are those who
have featured in this NG in the years gone by, and any
animosity has, indeed, been originated by the criticised groups.
For me, Radio Hammery has always had traditions of international
gentlemanliness and these criticised groups do not have those
traditions.

So, you would appear to come from the traditional seed-corn of
Radio Hammery, where it is a technical pursuit with jealously
guarded privileges and yet you seem to take offence at criticsm
of those who are not in your league.

I offer no apologies for maintaining a stance to uphold the
technical and gentlemanly traditions of Ham Radio; nor do
I apologise for setting ourselves apart from CBers.

You intersperse stupidity with tedious banality.
Psudonyms you've plenty of; both genuine and ghosted, too,
On all the countless newsgroups that your drivel is cross-posted to.
Our bandwidth you will fritter with your whining and your snivelling,
And we're the ones who pay the bills, downloading all your drivelling.
Your enemies are numerous, and no-one would be blaming us
For cracking your head open after you've been rudely flaming us.
You hate to lose an argument (by now you should be used to it).
You wouldn't know a valid point if you were introduced to it.
Your learning is extensive but consists of mindless trivia,
Designed to fan your ego, which is larger than Bolivia.
The comments that you vomit forth, disguised as jest and drollery,
Are really just an exercise in unremitting trollery.
You say you're frank and forthright, but that's merely lies and vanity,

The gibberings of one who's on the limits of his sanity.

You are the very model of a newsgroup personality.

With apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan :-)

I rather think they'd like it, it certainly brings on a few chuckles.

Behaving like a stupid boy,

So some ones an IR8 King then

It's even more impressive if you sing it to the tune of "Modern Major
General" -- the penultimate line has to be forced to scan, but the rest
flows nicely.

Your work, or did you find it?

How long did it take, for crying out loud?

There now appears to be a chorus of rather silly
and childish individuals who are taking delight in the
abusive remarks put about by each other.

Such Childish Behaviour (CB) does nothing for
the public's perception of Radio Hammery, and,
indeed, may well serve to dismay those who
are potential candidates to become _REAL_
Radio Hams.

Shame on all those who exhibit such infantile glee.

** ENCORE **

Your technical experience, although you claim to know it all
Could barely serve to run the installation disk from AOL;
But still, in matters meaningless and tediously trivial,
You are the very model of a Usenet individual.

Chorus: But still, in matters meaningless and tediously trivial,
Beanie is the very model of a Usenet individual.
