It almost certainly is a tube radio since it has a tuning eye. While it
would be technically possible to add a tuning eye to a solid state radio, it would involve a lot of parts used only for this purpose (such as a high voltage power supply). Some companies have been known to do weird things, but, until proven otherwise, assume it is a tube set. No frequency markings on the dial. It's not the first set like that I've seen but it is uncommon. John Bachman wrote: While in Italy last week I spotted this radio in an art studio. I thought it looked pretty cool.
